In Win 703 Review

A Closer Look - Inside

Simply remove the two thumbscrews holding each side panel in place to access the interior. The interior of the 703 is all-black to complement the exterior. Its layout is very traditional and In Win cut down on the use of metal a bit, which becomes obvious once you look lat the motherboard panel's back as it does not extend all the way to the bottom. While you only have around 18-19 mm of space to route cables at most, the extruded side panel will give you another 10 mm to work with. This is more than enough, but there will be some areas right behind the motherboard with only around around 12-14 mm of space.

The front may be taken off quite easily because In Win used clips on one and hooks on the other side. Behind the cover are two removable dust filters to protect each intake fan from dirt and grime. In Win equipped one of these locations with a cooling unit for a total tally of two 120 mm fans within the 703. You may install another such unit on the floor, but only if your PSU is no longer than 170 mm. Alternatively, there are mounting holes for a 2.5" HDD, which is certainly a much more attractive use of the space.

You will find four hard drive trays in the bottom of the front. These may be used to install either 2.5'' or 3.5" hard drives, and a single 2.5" HDD placement possibility has been put on top of these trays. Look closely and it also becomes apparent that the tooling of the chassis intends for three more 3.5" trays to be placed there, but In Win simply removed the side without included any, which is fine as most people won't require more than six hard-drive-mounting possibilities anyways. You will find three 5.25" drive bays in the very top, of which one is externally accessible; it features a plastic locking mechanism that will most likely not hold the drive bay as well as a set of traditional screws. If you want to use the bottom two 5.25" units in a meaningful fashion, it could also hold a few more hard drives so long as you have the right adapters on hand.

Things in the rear are much more traditional as the PSU bay is just what you would expect it to be. Above it are the seven expansion slots In Win topped off with a clear 120 mm exhaust fan with red LEDs. The two water-cooling openings are also here should you want to install an external cooling unit.

All the cables within the In Win 703 are of the traditional variety, which unfortunately also goes for the sleeving's color. The USB 2.0 and audio cables come in the usual gray while the chassis plugs are white instead of black. The only lead that goes with the color of the interior is the flat USB 3.0 cable. All-black or dark sleeving would have been nice since those In Win supplied are quite the eyesore to some—especially with the large window in tow.
