Assembly

Installing the motherboard is done by traditional means, with the use of pre-applied spacers and screws. While you should not have any issues in using a large top-blow cooler, no tower variant will fit within the compact In Win 901. As you can see, though, long graphics cards will feel right at home.

To install a 3.5" drive, you have to first pull the tray of your choice out. Secure the storage unit with screws, and, once in place, slide the tray back in and close the lock to hold it in place. Even so, the tray has a bit of play, which will definitely become an issue as it will vibrate after you turn it on.

The installation method for 2.5" units is identical to what we have seen in the 904. Simply detach the tray from the frame, attach a drive using traditional screws, and the put tray back into place. Getting it out and back into the chassis is an easy task because of the firmly attached, spring-loaded thumbscrew.

Adding an optical drive is simple as well. Just pop the cover off by pulling on the knob and sliding the drive into place. In Win does supply a set of the tiny screws required to secure the drive, but you had better have a slim screwdriver at your disposal to reach those mounts.

With everything in place, the In Win 901's interior makes a surprisingly clean impression. This is due to the fact that most of the cables have been routed behind the motherboard tray.

Finished Looks

Turning the unit on, it looks no different than when it was empty, which is due to the lack of cooling fans.

I could have cheated and simply used an image of the empty chassis, but the logo does light up in white once you turn it on.

All the connectors in the rear are readily accessible, but you can clearly see the motherboard I/O through the aluminum panel. A large opening lines up with the two expansion-slot covers, so you can go straight for the plugs of a graphics card instead of having to detach the silver panel. You can see all the cables and components through the tempered glass panel, which is identical to the 904, and the fact that the 901's panels are tinted as well means that it also looks quite cool.
