Multi-purpose gaming mice tend to be jacks of all trades and masters of none: decent at everything, but not excelling in anything. The right-handed ergonomic Logitech G604 is an exception. It's perfectly suitable for FPS, MMO, MOBA, and RTS games and fantastic for office and productivity usage as well because of its metal scroll wheel capable of horizontal scrolling and either a free-spin or regular operation. The HERO 16K, Logitech's current flagship sensor, delivers great performance. 15 buttons are available in total, and all are of very high quality across the board. The side buttons in particular are designed in a clever way: They bulge outwards, which makes it very easy to tell them apart just by feel, but are slim enough not to interfere with one's thumb placement. In terms of wireless functionality, one can choose between the regular 2.4 GHz mode, which provides the lowest latency, and Bluetooth mode, which extends the already impressive battery life even further during productivity use. Materials and build quality are great as well, with a pleasant-feeling surface that is soft to the touch.

Of course, there is a price for the number of features and quality the Logitech G604 brings to the table: the weight. When used with an AA-battery (like the one Logitech included), the G604 no doubt is a heavy mouse. Using an AAA-battery instead can bring the weight down a bit, but it's still no lightweight. Additionally, due to the construction, the metal scroll wheel isn't fully secured and can rattle when throwing the mouse around on the pad. That's no design flaw, though, as it's simply a trade-off. Those craving extensive RGB lighting will be disappointed in the G604, too, since Logitech decided to do without any to keep battery life as high as possible, and while they're not bad, the mouse feet on the G604 are certainly below average.

That having been said, the G604 gets a lot of things right while still being affordable, which is why it gets our Recommended award from me.
