UE's developmental pace when it comes to the BOOM's software and firmware make it as brilliant of a purchase today as it was nearly a year ago when the model launched. The app is still really simple and stable, but several neat features have been added to make this speaker faster and easier to use with the app. The nuisances we reported on with multiple speaker setups are now completely gone because of app and firmware updates, and while the hardware has not changed much, you now get a little dirt cover for the jacks on the bottom of the BOOM. While a welcome addition, a fully sized protective cover of some sort would have been better still.
