The flash drive market is one of the most competitive segments in the entire hardware market. While most USB 2.0 drives manage to tickle the maximum out of the required interface, there is a vast difference in price and performance when looking at USB 3.0 flash drives. In that regard the Mach Xtreme FX USB 3.0 Flash Drive with 64 GB manages to truly impress. It is faster than many competitors, but costs noticeably less. To give you an example, a competitor's product costs 10% more but only delivers 80 MB/s read and 60 MB/s write. The only real negative aspect is two fold. First off the 16 GB drive does not manage to perform as well as the 32 or 64 GB FX devices and that the size may be a larger issue for some who do not want to block any of the precious ports when using a flash drive. That said, the Mach Xtreme FX 32 or 64 GB are not only excellent USB 3.0 drives for the price, but also perform great at USB 2.0 allowing you to use it with the widespread interface now and enjoy the benefit of USB 3.0 when it finally becomes available on notebooks and gains more market share.
