Introduction

Monoprice Logo

The original idea for coverage of the Monoprice Monolith M-TWE was to just have a one-page overview as part of a larger SoundID article. First shown off at CES 2019, I had quickly become a fan of the Sonarwork brand's efforts in leveraging years of working with audio professionals, recording studios, and musicians to develop a mobile app for personalized listening profiles. That app matured into what is now SoundID and the desktop companion SoundID Listen. There were then collaborations with Drop, Walmart, and Monoprice to where SoundID was either natively installed or had native support for the audio products. So yes, the original plan was to have a multi-device overview of SoundID, but only two devices arrived, one of which was the Walmart Gateway tablet that only had the app pre-installed to make it relevant, and barely so thus. So here we are with a review of the second device and SoundID as part of its review instead.

The Monoprice Monolith M-TWE, also known as Monolith by Monoprice M-TWE, is a set of true wireless (TWS) earbuds with a list of features you would be happy to tick off a wishlist, including active noise cancellation, ambient mode, touch controls with audio feedback messages, Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity with Qualcomm aptX audio support, IPx4 water resistance, long battery life, and of course SoundID support. A lot is promised here, and this is before we get to the price point Monoprice is famous for. We will gauge everything before concluding whether pricing is worth it and benign with a look at the product specifications in the table below.
