Out of the box, the Montech Air 903 Max makes a solid impression with its wider than normal body and design elements around the left and right edge of the front panel. The overall design is generic, yet modern, so it should appeal to a wide target audience.

Through the white metal mesh front, you can clearly see the three HP140 mm ARGB equipped fans. That panel is easily removable, giving you easy, direct access to these intake cooling units. Alternatively, you may mount a radiator of up to 360 mm size here. In the rear, things look pretty traditional with a bit of extra room at the top, so that you an rest assured that any top mounted liquid cooling setup will not end up interfering with your motherboard.

The window of the chassis is framed nicely in white to match the rest of the chassis and sports no tint whatsoever so all your hardware will be easily visible. On the opposite side, there is a solid metal panel. Both of these are held in place by a pair of captive, silver thumbscrews.

In the back at the bottom, there is the PSU bay with a single set of mounting holes as the power supply is meant to be installed with the fan facing downward. Above that are seven horizontal expansion slots with individual, reusable covers. Montech has opted not to include any dedicated vertical mounting position which isn't that big of a deal considering that many GPUs nowadays are 3 or even 4 slots thick anyways. In the very top, there is a fourth, non-ARGB, 140 mm equipped fan set to push air out the back. With four such large, retail quality units, Montech continues to eliminate the need for you to go out and buy different fans by equipping most of their cases with useful ones out of the package.

On the top, there is a white metal mesh cover, which is held in place by magnetic strips. Below that, there are mounting holes for fans or radiators with the ability to hold up to three 140 mm units or a second 360 mm radiator assembly. To the right of this, you will find a well rounded set of IO with two USB 3.0 ports, one Type-C connector and the usual audio plugs. Montech has also included a dedicated LED toggle button while retaining the reset functionality, which is nice to see. The only gripe here is the fact that the USB 3.0 Type-A ports sport the OEM blue color. Montech could have gone with black or even white ones as an additional detail instead.

On the underside, you will find a single thumb screw holding the hard drive cage in place on the floor of the chassis. This is mostly for transportation purposes and can be removed when the system is stationary. There are two sets of placement holes, so that you can move the cage back a bit in case you need room for fans or a radiator in the front of the Air 903 Max. A white, removable, fine mesh dust filter protects the PSU intake area from dust and grime.
