A Closer Look

The radiator is your typical aluminium unit. To differentiate it from other products that stick to a barebones radiator, MSI has placed the dragon logo alongside "MPG" on the sides of the radiator in glossy black. While it doesn't command your attention, it does add a subtle accent all the same. As for its cooling capability, considering the radiator has an FPI (fins per inch) of 20, it should be similar to most 240 mm AIOs. Thus, the pump and fans will be the main determining factors on final performance. As for the tubing, it is 400 mm long.

The pump/block is rather large at first glance, which is due to a magnetic cover that conceals it. This cover has ventilation holes and a see-through window for the LCD on top of the pump. Below the LCD is a high RPM fan that adds additional cooling for surrounding components. When it comes to the wiring, it, along with the tubing, all comes out on the same side of the pump, which makes it appear a bit messy, but the cover does hide the majority of it. The only thing to keep in mind is that the cover and wiring can limit the fittings swivel range.

The copper coldplate is familiar; after all, this is a gen-7 Asetek unit. However, the fit and finish are quite good, with slightly less visible machining marks than on some competing offerings. Considering the price, I did go in expecting overall build quality to be better than average, which seems to be the case here.

The TORX 4.0 fans in this kit have a maximum RPM of 2500 and a maximum airflow of 77.4 CFM. In terms of design, there are eight fan blades with every two connected as one, which is a visually different. Also note that the fans offer a static pressure of 4.29 mm H2O according to MSI. These fans also use ball bearings rather than sleeve, rifle, or fluid dynamic bearings, which was a bit of a surprise.
