Cushions

Two cushions are provided in the bundle for some extra comfort; one is for the neck and the other for some lumbar support. Both consist of the same black, soft, and velvety material and memory foam. The noblechairs name and logo are embroidered on to each cushion with the same platinum white thread as for the chair's diamond stitching pattern.

The neck-support cushion is the smaller of the two and has straps that go around the backrest.

The second cushion is the bigger of the two and is rectangular in shape. However, there is a slight difference when compared to other pillows we have come across thus far; the lumbar-support cushion does not have straps.

Accessory alternatives

noblechairs is well-known for their premium leather office chairs and their quality materials and comfort. Thus, the company also offers several products for the customization of their chairs, or for anyone looking for spare parts.

Two additional options for the gas lift are provided for $33.4 each:

• Short gas-lift (-3 cm) for users who are approximately 1.80 m (70.86") tall.
• Short gas-lift (-1,5 cm) for users with a height of under 1.80 m (70.86").

Both gas-lift pressure springs are approved for loads of up to 180 kg (396.83 lb) and allow the seat's height to be adjusted by up to 10 cm. Despite of how much weight these support, noblechairs suggests that its ICON chairs are not used by people who weigh more than 150 kg (330.7 lb).

Besides the aforementioned pair of optional gas lifts, noblechairs offers 60 mm hard-floor casters with automatic brakes, which prevent any unintentional forward or backward movement.

Usage Experience

The aesthetic of the ICON series is certainly unique, and we have not come across anything else quite like it yet. This design fits in nicely everywhere, and the black color undoubtedly helps here. The chair mainly supports an upright body posture structurally, which is considered to be the best sitting position for people with lower back problems. Sitting in it also had us feel a bit lofty in mind and spirit since its design is somewhat like that of that of a royal throne!

Our entire personnel at the office has tried this chair out for quite some time. Considering the fact that we already own three different noblechairs chairs, we were aware of what to expect from this ICON chair. The cushioning of it, both on its backrest and the seat's base, is a bit stiff in comparison to some other chairs, though definitely not to the point of being uncomfortable. Users accustomed to softer cushioning will have to take the time it takes to get used to the ICON's firmer padding. The PU pleather is smooth and well made. Its resemblance to real leather is amazing. If one does not know the differences, distinguishing it here will prove time consuming. What came as a surprise is the glitter-like shimmer from underneath the perforations; it was unexpected and more than welcome since it was something we hadn't encountered before.

The armrests are smaller than others, but since they are also 4D, we were able to adjust them in any of four direction. Thus, we had no issues regarding them. However, these armrests do look somewhat cheap, inexpensive even, for such a luxurious chair. Perhaps if noblechairs had covered them in the same upholstery as the rest of the chair, their looks would have been improved.

We really like the rocking mechanism since it works smoothly and offers the comfort we were hoping for. However, users weighing less than 70 kg (154.32 lb) will find it a bit hard to make use of properly, even after adjusting the tilt's tension; rocking the backrest back and forth takes quite a bit of force.

The caster wheels roll along smooth, but will never do so unintentionally. We lightly pushed the chair along a flat, wooden surface, and it stopped after almost 10 cm (3.94"). If you work in a tight office or gaming space, these non-slippery caster wheels are definitely a plus.

The neck-support cushion is flexible and comfy. I often find neck-support cushions to be useless since they are out of reach because I am only 1.60 m (62.99") tall. I did find it to be situated higher than I would have liked initially, but since it is adjustable by pulling it up or down via its straps, I was able to adjust it to my needs. How the neck-support pillow is situated is usually not an issue for taller users. The lumbar-support cushion is fairly large and should, as such, support the pelvis area of just about any user well. It feels soft and supportive, but is not equipped with straps that help with adjusting it accordingly. The lumbar-support cushion will, as such, probably fall on to the seat's base every time you get up, which means you'll have to put it back into place before taking a seat. This is something we obviously didn't like.
