Packaging

The noblechairs ICON comes in a bulky package with a number of interesting bits of information as illustrations everywhere. The dimensions of the package are 87 x 37 x 70 cm (34.25" x 14.56" x 27.55"), and it weighs 30 kg (66.13 lb). With such ponderous dimensions, an extra pair of hands is advisable, especially if one has back problems.

We were expecting the chair, which had us conduct our research prior to its arrival, and we thus knew that the upholstery would be made out of top grain leather, and what baffled us was the leather's description of full grain leather on the box. We obviously got in touch with noblechairs and were told that a human error is to blame. If it were full grain leather, it would be as thick as a leather belt and hardly workable for a chair, which meant that top grain leather is used here, the second-best real leather option available, one suitable to a chair.

The top grain leather with precision stitching description refers to the process of sanding away the top surface's natural grain to remove all imperfections. Imitation grain also gets stamped into the leather in order to give it a more consistent appearance, which means no genuine grain leftovers exist anymore. By doing so, however, the leather loses its original durability and strength over the long run. Be it as it may, with an item out of genuine leather, this is the only way to have a clean-cut design with almost no imperfections.

All contents are well protected in plastic membrane, and some extra carton pieces are used for protection as well.
