Value and Conclusion

  • The NZXT Adamas will set you back $199 US Dollars or 199€.
  • Incredible build quality
  • Great engineering inside the case
  • Hand crafted finish
  • Four silent 12 cm fans included
  • Drive rails for easy installation
  • 3mm thick aluminum
  • All welded & screwed together - no rivets!
  • Available in black or silver
  • Sufficient screws in seperate bags
  • Way to restrictive for today's high end components
  • Seagate drives fit, Samsung ones do not
  • Will not be able to fit 12 cm water cooling kits
  • PCI brackets need to be broken off and cannot be reused
  • GeForce 8800GTX/Ultra barely fits and will block two hard drive bays
  • SLI will block all four
  • External 3.5 inch bays cannot be used as hard drive bays
The NZXT Adamas results in some very mixed feelings. The great build quality with 3 mm thick aluminum and incredible engineering poured into the design of the case are well worth the price tag. The space problems and the hard drive installation problems are definetly nothing a $200 US Dollar case should have. That said, the case should be great for fairly high end systems, but not for the top of the line components like a GeForce 8800 GTX or Ultra. 12 cm fan based watercooling systems which usually should be installed on the rear fan will not fit either, as there is no space between fan and side panel. Radiators are usually slightly larger than the fans that are mounted on them, making these too big to be used. Overall the Adamas as it exists now leaves us in a bind with great attributes as well as problems. This should all be solved by the upcoming Adamas XL, which is a mid tower case as well with slightly larger dimensions and redesigned hard drive bays, eliminating all the problems. Anyone looking to build a system with a normal graphic card using Seagate drives should have no problems, while the high-end users wanting the quality of the Adamas should definitely wait for the XL variant to hit the streets.
