Powercolor X1300 Hypermemory 2 Review

Value and conclusion

  • X1300 Hypermemory 2 price was not available at time of review, but I’d be expecting a price of around $125.
  • Low profile
  • Silent fan
  • Pre-overclocked
  • No PCI-E power connector
  • Performance/value ratio
  • CrossFire with two X1300 of any manufacturer
  • No heatsink on memory
  • Poor memory OC
  • No temperature probe
Yet another performance marvel. Last time, Mad Moxx redefined middle segment performance. Today, feels like a deja vu, except that it takes place in the lower segment. Pre-overclocked cards seem to be the hype of these days. As if companies were realizing that “stock is never enough”, and that most people are willing to pay a little extra to get that edge on competition. Also, Powercolor has tried to aim this card at a very wide range of users – from those looking for a video card for their HTPC or barebone (low profile), to those who are after a silent PC (small, yet silent fan), all the way to the occasional gamer (good benchmark results), which is not seen that often. If you need even more performance and have an ATI Crossfire capable board you can get two X1300 cards from any manufacturer and they will run in Crossfire mode without any special cable. To maximize performance a motherboard which PCI-Express x16/x16 is recommended.
I hope that we get to see more cards like this one.
