Introduction

Pulsar Logo

Founded in 2020, Pulsar is a gaming peripherals company based in Korea. The ambidextrous X2V2 is an upgrade of 2022's X2 series. Once again offered in a regular ("Size 2") and Mini ("Size 1") variant, the X2V2 comes with several improvements. While the sensor is still PixArt's PAW3395, the MCU is no longer a CX52850, but rather a Nordic nRF52840, which allows compatibility with Pulsar's 4K Wireless Dongle, enabling true 4000 Hz wireless polling. Instead of Kailh GM 8.0 switches, optical switches from RAESHA are used for the main buttons, whose main benefit is their inability to ever develop double-clicking due to wear and tear. Owing to its dust-proof design, the new custom "Pulsar Blue" scroll wheel encoder is said to be more durable. While the shape is unchanged, the weight has been lowered, from 54 g to 51 g for the Mini (Size 1) variant. The shape of the feet is unchanged, and they are still made of pure PTFE. Pulsar advertises up to 100 hours of battery life. The usual customization options are found in the software. The Pulsar X2V2 is available in either black or white. In addition to the ambidextrous X2V2, which only has side buttons on the left side, Pulsar also offers the X2A, which is fully ambidextrous (symmetrical) and has side buttons on both sides.

Weight

My scale shows around 51 g (+/- 1 g), which is exactly in line with the weight cited by Pulsar. At 51 g, the X2V2 Mini (Size 1) weighs 3 g less than the X2 Mini, and also compares well to the Endgame Gear OP1we at 58 g, though the latter has a full bottom shell. On the other hand, the G-Wolves HTX 4K with a solid shell and open bottom is significantly lighter at 43 g. An excellent weight nonetheless.
