Performance Summary with Multiple Clients »

Average Response Time

The average response time is the average amount of time a storage device takes to receive a data request, find the corresponding data, access it, and return the requested results. It depends on various factors, including network bandwidth, the number and type of data requests, the type and technical characteristics of the storage hardware, and the number of users that perform these data requests. For the results below we assume that the NAS is accessed by a single user only. Check the "Performance Summary with Multiple Clients" page for multi-client response time results.

Throughput

The following graph shows the overall throughput of the NAS in all tests we conducted using the DiskSpd tool in an OLAP scenario with QD4.

The NAS performed almost the same in every possible configuration since the M.2 SSDs pose no bottleneck to the system. We would only see variations with these results if the NAS were to support LACP (link aggregation control protocol) for up to twice the network transfer speeds.

Some comparison graphs follow.

IOPs

The next graph shows the recorded IOPs in all the tests we conducted using the DiskSpd tool in an OLTP scenario with QD4.

We measured the lowest IOPS performance in Raid 0.

Here are the corresponding comparison graphs:

Performance Summary - Internal & External Storage

This graph shows the overall performance of the NAS in all the tests we conducted using our custom-made software.

The TBS-453A performed very well overall, even with encrypted file transfers.

Performance Comparison Graphs

Let's now compare the TBS-453A's performance to that of other NAS devices. The graphs below are only for reference, though, and not for a straight comparison since the TBS-453A uses M.2 SSDs, while all other NAS servers use the HDDs we use in all of our other NAS reviews.
