Web Login & QTS 4.0.5 Interface

You can go to the NAS login page through Qfinder after the initial setup has finished or by directly typing the IP address of the NAS into your browser, where you will be asked to type in the administrator’s password selected earlier. Doing so will give you access to the totally new interface of the QTS 4.05 which has nothing to do with the older QTS desktop, resembling the IOS or Android operating system instead. QNAP decided that a windowed OS with multitasking capability is the way to go since the competition (Synology and Asustor) already does so, which makes many users much more familiar with such interfaces.

QNAP's new QTS 4.0.x OS allows you to tailor everything to your needs. You can, for starters, move and rearrange icons on the desktop and have immediate access to basic administrative functions, logs, and external devices; this fresh interface allows even inexperienced users to easily control such fully featured NAS servers as the TS-470. Finally, it supports many languages and you can easily switch to one of your liking.

Administrative options will allow you to specify your email address, change the profile picture, set a wallpaper by picking an existing one or uploading yours, and change the password; or configure several other miscellaneous options.

The dashboard will provide you with important information about the system, including HDD statistics, and is easy to follow and very well designed. The most important sections here are probably system and HDD health. The resource monitor is also quite important because it shows CPU-, RAM-, and bandwidth usage. Finally, the hardware section tracks HDD and system temperatures and the fan's speed. The online user portion of it displays all currently connected users. If you want to disconnect or block a user or IP, you only have to click on the user and pick the action. Here, we should note that all the widgets of the dashboard can be dragged onto the desktop for easier monitoring. Also, the color of the dashboard will change based on the system's health status, giving you a quick way of figuring out whether everything is running smoothly.

Photo Station

Photo Station is a web album for organizing and sharing photos and videos you have stored on the NAS with the rest of the world. After you upload the files to the NAS, thumbnails will automatically be generated, allowing for a quick preview. You can even pick the background music for the slide show before sharing photos by email or publishing them on various social media sites.

Video Station

Video Station allows you to create a personal video website or share videos on social networking sites.

Download Station

Download Station allows you to directly download files to your NAS without the intervention of a PC system. It supports BT, HTTP, FTP, RapidShare, and Magnet links.

File Station

File Station gives you remote access to the NAS, which allows you to manage the files you have stored on it through a web browser.

Music Station

Music Station allows you to put your music collection on the cloud; all music you upload to the NAS becomes available via a web browser and requires no additional software for its playback. While the music is playing, song title, artist, album, and genre are clearly displayed on the page; and random and continuous playback options are available. You can even add your favorite radio stations to Music Station or use Music Station as an alarm clock—a NAS worth $1000 can act as an alarm clock!

myQNAPcloud

The myQNAPcloud service allows you to access pre-selected NAS services through the net. It provides host name registration, mapping of the NAS IP, in case it has a dynamic one, and auto-port mapping of UPnP routers on the local network. The wizard easily allows you to setup the service by picking the NAS services you want to have remote access to over the net.

This is the web interface of myQNAPcloud service. As you can see, you have direct access to all registered NAS servers you have on your account, and the corresponding services you picked in their administration interface.
