Packaging

The product comes in a rather serious design, so its packaging doesn't features any fancy graphics. The front comes with a photograph of the unit with its fan grill exposed and the few affixed cables meticulously hidden, or photoshopped. Three icons stand for Gold efficiency, the seven year warranty, and the semi-modular design. Above those are the model and the capacity descriptions.

A plastic handle on top will make moving it around easy.

Rosewill lists all available connectors and mentions each Capstone model's power specifications on the back. There is also a brief features description here.

Contents

The unit is surrounded by packing foam, so it will most likely reach its owner in pristine condition. As you can see in the last of the above photos, the PSU is also inside a plastic bag.

The bundle includes a pouch for the modular cables, an AC power cord, a set of fixing bolts, several zip ties, and a user's manual.

Exterior

This large Capstone PSU features a heavy matte finish that appears to be resistant to scratches and fingerprints. A small on/off switch resides right below the AC receptacle, and a classic honeycomb-styled exhaust grill allows for hot air to leave the unit's internals.

Both sides look empty since neither comes with any decals.

All modular sockets in the back are covered by silicone caps. The affixed cables run out of the PSU through a rather large hole that is also covered by a grommet. The power specifications label can be found on the PSU's underside.

The large Capstone features a generally plain and boring external design. However, most of you will probably buy a PSU for its performance and not its looks. You should also keep in mind that a PSU's looks can be deceiving since a modern-looking exterior can hide an outdated platform.

There are only three native cables, two of which are fully sleeved back into the casing. All cables, native and modular, also consist of colored wires and are, as such, not stealth. We would also prefer them to be flat (ribboned) since such cables obstruct airflow inside a chassis less.

The sleeving is of acceptable quality; however, we have actually become accustomed to PSUs with stealth cables, especially at such a price.
