Value and Conclusion

  • The Rosewill RK-9100 series keyboards will set you back $119.99.
  • Choice of Cherry MX switches
  • Standard layout
  • Two USB ports
  • Advanced backlighting system
  • Sturdy
  • Simple looks
  • Simple looks
  • Pricey!
  • No driver suite
  • Green LEDs for lock-keys
Rosewill manages to add some good features to an already well-performing keyboard; however, these come at a rather hefty price increase of $40. The new light system is quite fancy, and its gaming mode disabling the Windows keys is a welcome addition. In terms of gaming performance, the addition of lights is completely overshadowed by the lack of a good driver suite. Not having a driver suite for a premium-priced keyboard that sells for $119.99 and is aimed at gamers just seems odd. The ability to adjust the light system directly on the keyboard by, say, dimming it, is of course nice, but some might miss the ability to record and play macros, reassign buttons, and so forth.

The build quality is solid and the etched lettering is clear with both the LEDs on and off, which is great if you plan on using it for some serious typing while the sun is out. Rosewill uses a standard US layout for this keyboard, which is great since there is nothing more annoying than having to alter your hand's position and typing style from keyboard to keyboard.

This keyboard ultimately seems a bit overpriced for what it is. It might be a good purchase if you can score it at a discount or with a bundle that makes sense to you.
