Packaging

The SilentNight-500 comes in a relative small box featuring a top handle to help you move it around more easily, which is nice since the unit itself is quite heavy. At the front, we find a semi-quarter shot of the unit with the top-mounted heatsink in the foreground. Next to the unit's photo (on the left) reside descriptions of the series and the model along with badges for its Platinum efficiency, the five-year warranty, and its modular cabling system that is actually only semi-modular.

Only Rosewill's logo and the series name are depicted on this side.

On the rear side, we find a table describing all available connectors, a brief list of the unit's main features, and the power specifications table.

Contents

The contents of the box are well protected since packing foam completely surrounds the PSU. The latter is also wrapped in a nylon bag for additional protection.

A small pouch holds the few modular cables. The rest of the bundle includes the AC power cord, a set of fixing bolts, a user's manual, and several zip ties for cable-management purposes.

Exterior

The unit is equipped with a double layer of texture coating, which gives it a matte finish that is fairly scratch resistant and fingerprint proof. The casing is full of honeycomb style vents to allow for the best possible airflow, while the huge heatsink on top absorbs all the heat from the PSU's internals before passing it on to the environment through its fins. You should, while installing the PSU, make sure to mount it with the aforementioned heatsink facing upwards because hot air travels up. Otherwise, hot air will be trapped inside the unit, which will lead to problems during its operation. The modular panel, with its scarce sockets and fully sleeved native cables, is a part of the unit's back. The sockets are covered by silicone caps, while all modular cables are flat and stealthed, which means that all of their wires are black.
