Seasonic's name shines even brighter with such products as the one I tested today. Their new XP3 platform is awesome, and teaches manufacturers a lesson in how to push analog circuits to their limits for some incredible voltage regulation (stability of rails). With very high efficiency throughout its entire load range and very clean rails, overall performance was superb. This unit's only downside is its higher noise output as it only uses a 120mm fan. I wonder why Seasonic didn't go with a larger 140 mm fan for just as much airflow at lower speeds, which would have decrease noise output nicely. The enclosure is large enough, and Cooler Master did so in their V1200 flagship unit based on the same platform. Passive mode also doesn't last long while enabled, but will work with very low loads. I get it, though, as Seasonic made sure the unit's reliability isn't compromised, although such high efficiency can easily cope with the heat without a fan engaging for a little longer yet.
Seasonic's new flagship is among the best PSUs I have tested. It packs a ton of power, topnotch performance, and has a lot of connectors, including ten PCIe and two EPS connectors you can use at the same time. All of the above is combined with a hefty seven year warranty at a very justifiable price, which makes it incredibly competitive. I think this PSU is a very good investment for your money if you don't mind the noise its Sanyo Denki fan produces at, especially, high loads and under tough conditions. I am now looking forward to Seasonic's forays in producing and offering digital PSUs to the world!
