The Sharkoon AK5G RGB provides a pretty good retail price considering you get all the fixings of a conventional modern case. The price feels adequate and caters to users who want a good-looking chassis without breaking the bank. While $100 is considered the sweetspot, the Sharkoon AK5G RGB would clock in $20 below, meaning you have more money to spend on something else, like an upgraded CPU cooler.
One thing should be pretty clear when looking at the AK5G RGB: for the most part, it sticks to tried and true approaches so you get good build quality with the traditional layout, all while staying on top of some of the latest developments like BTF support. You also get a USB-C port, four PWM fans paired with a functional hub which also offers ARGB control through the case, plus the ability to install all the usual gaming hardware that the target audience would want to include.
Sharkoon also manages to get most of the details right with black USB-A ports, sufficient storage capabilities, reusable and bridge-less expansion slots and the inclusion of a GPU support bracket. That said, there are a few things that could be improved, we would have loved to see a better underside dust filter, unified motherboard header connector and grommets to keep things as tidy inside as possible.
The AK5G RGB doesn't push the envelope in any sense, instead playing it safe with good tooling choices. The most obvious drawback is the glass front panel. It may look cool, but it should be apparent to everyone that this setup does not do so well when cooling vs. the AK5M RGB with a mesh front, but luckily in our tests nothing was too extreme either. All this makes the Sharkoon AK5G RGB a reliable, quality, no-frills pick at the well set price point, making it an easy recommendation.
