A Closer Look
The heatsink is comprised of forty-two aluminium fins that receive heat from four Ø6 mm heat pipes. It uses a traditional tower-style design with the fin stack being slightly offset for improved memory compatibility.
Even with the inclusion of RGB LEDs, SilentiumPC keeps costs down by keeping everything else simple and clean. The fins are straight with no indents or cutouts to increase air turbulence; however, they are folded over in spots along their edges, which keeps the fins properly spaced and makes them less prone to bending.
The top plate is black and has the SilentiumPC logo dead center with various cutouts for LED illumination. It should be noted that the top plate with its LEDs completely covers the heat pipes, making for a nice, clean finish. In regards to the base, it is comprised of an aluminium block and four heat pipes that make direct contact with the processor. It is also good to see improvements that should result in more efficient heat transfer to the fins in the heat-pipe arrangement.
SilentiumPC includes a single Sigma Pro RGB 120 mm fan that pushes up to 52.5 CFM while having an RPM range of 500–1600. Rubber pads are also pre-installed for reduced vibrations, while the blades and hub are a milky white color for better diffusion of the RGB LEDs.
