Taking a closer look at the results of the HD Tach benchmark, the MS05 manages a very solid 33.3 MB/s. As you can see the, there is a drop at the edge of the drive. So the hard drive is becoming the bottleneck in this area. If you look closely, the chassis manages a very consistent 35,1 MB until the hard drive gets in the way.

ATTO reveals that the MS05 is capable of some very solid write speeds as well, almost matching the read benchmarks. Overall a very solid enclosure.

eSATA Performance

When connecting the MS05 to the eSATA inferface, the chassis reacts just as you would expect. The benchmark results are virtually identical to those of a traditionally installed SATA hard drive.


The same goes for the speeds achieved during the ATTO benchmark.
