Surface
There are three color variations of the Rival 110; Matte Black, Steel Grey, and Arctis White. The Matte Black version is featured in this review.
I cannot really compare the surface coating to any mouse I own right now, but it has a slightly similar feel to it as with the pre-BenQ Zowie ZA and FK series. It's a slightly rough, but non-rubberized matte coating on the entire upper part. I have found it grippy enough with dry hands, but when my hands got sweaty, it lost a bit of that grippiness. I still did not lose control as there were no slips, but I had to take a hold of it more firmly.
The side grips have a dotted texture to them, and they actually feel way nicer than I thought they would. I'm not a huge fan of non-rubberized, but highly textured plastic side grips because they tend to be slippery, but this absolutely wasn't a problem for me here. Of course, everyone is different, so even though I like this, you may not—it all depends on one's personal preferences. Also, since there is no rubberization, there is no chance of it peeling off after long usage.
The non-textured parts of the sides are made out of a smoother, probably uncoated plastic. Lastly, the base has a similar touch to it as the top, but it's a bit less grainy. This part is painted in the same shade of gray as the cable and scroll wheel.
Build Quality
I found two things about the build quality slightly bothersome. On one hand, a mouse skate was misaligned a tiny bit, which caused some minor scratching against the mouse pad. Also, when I tapped the mouse against the mouse pad, it produced a slight rattle, but once I placed my fingers on the main buttons, that rattle disappeared. There is probably some play between the stem of the mouse button and the plunger of the main micro switches due to some factory tolerances. But even when I shook the mouse vigorously in midair, there was no rattle, nor could I make the mouse squeak anywhere with a very hard grip. I can safely say that the overall build quality is decent.
Weight
For a mouse that is advertised as lightweight, it could probably lose a few grams. The official specifications claim that it weights 87.5 grams, but with a few centimeters of cable (that you are going to drag along with the mouse itself), it's more around 89-90 grams. Generally, that isn't high at all, but because of the small, low-profile shell, it felt a bit sluggish in my hands. The weight distribution is almost centered, but I found the mouse to tilt back a bit when lifted up.
