Performance Summary with Multiple Clients

The two Ethernet ports in Link Aggregation mode (802.3ad) provide a noticeable speed increase with multiple clients connected. The total transfer rate (throughput from all clients combined) reached 119.12 MB/s during the five-clients test and 120.15 MB/s during the four-client test. The highest read speed, 160.13 MB/s, was measured with four clients during the "ISO copy from NAS" test, while the highest write speed was measured with the same number of clients during the "Program copy to NAS" test—it was 151.39 MB/s.

With multiple clients connected and under heavy network throughput, CPU utilization was high and RAM usage hit almost 100%. Especially the latter looks very strange since other NAS servers we have tested in the past, and from various manufacturers, utilized very little RAM under the same conditions, and those were equipped with only 1 GB or 512 MB. Thecus should look into this matter as soon as possible in an attempt to fix it, since the firmware is apparently to blame.
