The cooler on the X-Edition uses three heatpipes, of which two are twice the length, which effectively doubles their cooling potential. The surface of the cooler is rubber coated, adding a nice feel to it.
Once the main heatsink is removed, you can see the secondary heatsink which covers voltage regulation circuitry.
The card requires one 6-pin and one 8-pin PCI-Express power connector. This configuration is good for up to 300 W of power draw.
Just like the AMD reference design, the card uses a CHiL CHL8228 voltage controller which is well supported by overclocking software and offers monitoring features, too.
The GDDR5 memory chips are made by Hynix, and carry the model number H5GQ2H24MFR-R0C. They are specified to run at 1500 MHz (6000 MHz GDDR5 effective).
AMD's Tahiti graphics processor introduces a new shader architecture, it is also the first GPU to be produced on a 28 nm process at TSMC. The transistor count is 4.31 billion.
