  • Quiet - Unbelievably quiet

  • Affordable
  • Stable 3.3V and 5V voltages

The brand name X-Spice was completely unknown to me before this review, but now I am really interested in what else they have to offer. Their Kira CS 530W PSU caught me completely off guard, I expected just another beige painted OEM power supply that is cheap to make and has not much else to offer, and I was completely wrong.
The most prominent feature of the X-Spice Kira is certainly the quiet fan. It basically redefines the term "quiet fan" in my opinion. While other manufacturers claim "quiet", "silent", "low-noise", "temperature controlled" and what not, X-Spice's Kira just delivers. While a fanless power supply may be just that tiny bit quieter, your choices there are very limited in wattage. As we saw in our testing this 530W PSU can even power a Quad CrossFire rig, without getting noisy or unstable.
The short length of only 12.5 cm will certainly come in handy when building a small form factor PC. A missing feature however are modular connectors which would allow the removal of unneeded cabling. By the way, only four SATA connectors is a bit little in my opinion, but you can always use 5.25" to SATA power adapters.
Voltage stability, ripple and efficiency are all fine and can definitely compete with much more expensive products from more prominent manufacturers. Overall I think the X-Spice Kira 530W is a PSU that everybody should consider who is in the market for a new power supply.
