Value & Conclusion

  • The i5 has an MSRP of €45.95 or US$49.99 including taxes. However, you can find it starting for around €22, which is a much more realistic price.
  • Compact mATX chassis
  • Can hold graphics cards of up to 280 mm in length
  • Tower coolers of up to 135 mm will fit
  • Well-placed window
  • Magnetic dust filter on top
  • 120 mm LED fan in front
  • Metal shroud
  • Good amount of space behind motherboard tray
  • CPU area opening of motherboard tray nice and big
  • Can hold three hard drives
  • Expensive MSRP
  • Radiator support not realistic
  • Only USB 2.0
  • Lots of holes and punch-outs with no use
  • Fan placements on top of shroud will block access the motherboard's bottom edge
  • No grommets to maximize cable-management possibilities
  • No dust filter for the PSU
  • Only basic metal mesh filter in the front of the chassis
  • Limited availability
The i5 is a compact chassis for mATX users who want good compatibility with tower coolers, ATX PSUs, and decent graphic cards, along with the advertised ability of holding a 240 mm radiator. While that sounds good on paper, the execution seems a bit lacking. The biggest issue is the fact that a 240 mm radiator and fans will not fit as they will collide with motherboard components with near certainty.

Disregarding that, the i5 is a good-looking case, which should work well for those going for an air-cooling setup. Due to the compact size of the chassis, you are only able to install two 3.5" drives alongside a single 2.5" variant. Here, some cases for a similar price point offer slightly more flexibility, but odds are most users in this price segment will be served just fine with what the i5 has to offer.

On top of that, the metal shroud is a nice touch as many cases tend to go for a plastic variant at that price point. Similarly, the use of a magnetic metal-mesh filter on top is a really nice touch. Unfortunately, this euphoria is dampened quite a bit by the fact that the unit does not offer any USB 3.0 plugs in the top I/O panel, which I consider a no-go these days.

It becomes hard to recommend the i5 when you have cases like the Cooltek MT-03 out there, which cost less, offer a shroud, come with two USB 3.0 ports, a card reader, more storage space, and real 240 mm radiator support - all at a €30 price tag. The only things the i5 has going for it is its white color, magnetic dust filter, and LED fan - which is not really enough for me to overlook its major shortcomings. If the design and white color is something you dig, there are retailers selling it for around €22 in Europe, which is actually quite adequate for a basic air-cooled rig.
