Ripple Measurements

You will see the ripple levels we measured on the RM1000x's rails in the following table. The limits are, according to the ATX specification, 120 mV (+12V) and 50 mV (5V, 3.3V, and 5VSB).

Ripple suppression is jaw-dropping. The combination of this platform with Type 4 cables that include additional ripple-filtering caps resulted in amazing ripple-filtering results. The RM1000x, like the RM1000i, will feed your system's precious components with ultra-clean DC voltages that will allow for the highest possible overclocks; that is, if you tend to overclock. Such clean rails will put sensitive components under the least amount of possible stress, which will increase their lifetime and their reliability. Ripple suppression is a key performance factor with PSUs, and we classify it as amongst the most important factors, right along with load regulation. We can tolerate a noisy PSU, but one with poor ripple suppresion will immediately be disqualified.

Ripple at Full Load

You can see the AC ripple and noise the main rails registered (+12V, 5V, 3.3V, and 5VSB) in the following oscilloscope screenshots. The bigger the fluctuations on the oscilloscope's screen, the bigger the ripple/noise. We set 0.01 V/Div (each vertical division/box equals 0.01 V) as the standard for all measurements.
