Introduction
HiFiMAN's HE-1000 headphone turned a lot of heads, and their Edition X will do the same. The Edition X bears more in common with its $1200 more expensive, older brother than the HE-560, which roughly costs half as much. Its new oval-ish earcups and headband assembly look like those of the HE-1000, but the materials are less exotic since it essentially looks like a less flamboyant HE-1000. Technically based on the design first showcased by the HE-1000, the huge driver has been redesigned with a less expensive diaphragm material, and the same goes for all the mechanical assemblies, which, although still not a bargain, allows HiFiMAN to sell it for $1799.
The Edition X's less exotic materials also make it 81 g lighter than the HE-1000, which brings it in at just 399 g.
