Thermalright Intros Venomous X Black CPU Cooler

Thermalright is ready with a Black variant of its Venomous X CPU cooler. It uses essentially the same materials as the standard model, except for its black nickel-plating, which makes it suit aesthetics of certain builds. It uses Thermalright's standard tower design, with six heatpipes. It has provision to hold a 140 mm fan on either side. The unit measures 127 x 63 x 160 mm, weighing 755 g. It supports all current sockets, including LGA1366, LGA1156, AM3/AM2(+), and LGA775. The Venomous X comes with a tube of Chill Factor III TIM bundled. It will be priced around the 55 EUR mark.

After the all copper TRUE, yeah I agree entirely. Though I'm hoping for maybe half the fins made out of copper. That should hopefully add a little better cooling, but keep the weight "reasonable".

There's no point in having an awesome heatsink if the TIM isn't as good. In this case the Chill Factor 3 that comes with it is only 3.5 W/mK Thermal Conductivity. About half of the thermal compounds out there have higher thermal conductivity. If you use the thermal compound that comes with it you're just holding the heatsink back.

About half of the thermal compounds out there have higher thermal conductivity. If you use the thermal compound that comes with it you're just holding the heatsink back.
The difference is going to be about 5°C between the absolute worst paste and the absolute best paste, and even more of that comes down to proper application, so no not really.

I'm just glad they ditched the Chill Factor 1 paste they used to ship with their coolers, I think I have at least 3 syringes of that stuff, though switching to MX-2 only gave about a 1°C difference at load.

Just to give an idea, the standard Chill Factor 1 paste that ThermalRight used to ship with their coolers gets about 38.7°C over ambient, while the very best Shin-Etsu gives about 37.5°C over ambient, so we can expect the Chill Factor III to be somewhere in that 1.2°C temp difference area...
