more ram = win
I mean the screen is nice but apart from that a single core sempron from some time ago is faster in daily tasks.
Considering we have a laptop that is the predecessors to this from 6 months ago and has the previous AMD dual core + radeon graphics design for £200 i'd expect this (the replacement to settle for around £250
Atom + ION are in the same category as the E-350 (with the AMD part using less power). The C-50 is down in the Pineview area and anything there over 1.6Ghz is more then 10w. Before you celebrate on the faster core speed remember Atom is not a OoO CPU like every other client CPU is and also Intel graphics.......does that really need expanded upon? (Just in case) At work the PC in the shop (automotive) is a 1C/2T Atom and is closer to 2Ghz end of Atoms. With it, 2GB ram, and it's Intel GPU the PC makes any Youtube video over 320p a slide show..........on XP SP3.........with literally no extra bs fluff taking up cycles in the background. Want that 320p full screen? Congrats! You just made your video a picture gallery with audio. :pimp:
No, the system is only 1 yr old. Yes, we always log in with admin rights. No, the thing uses less then!!! 512MB sitting idle on the desktop! No, no virus other crap etc, etc since it has been able to do that since day 1. Weeeeeeeeee! :shadedshu
As one more note, my boss said he got his wife a netbook with an Atom in it (about 1 yr ago) and got that great "Atom netbook" experience you always hear about. By the way, he states "what good is battery life when you can't do much else then write letters......which it can barely do". He must not be doing something write because every review I've seen of an Atom netbook says uber pwnage ftw! on battery while experience being livable. Can someone define livable? (I swear last one) Almost forgot. A friend of my brother-in-law (yes I know him now and see him on a regular basis) made a statement about his netbook that had an extremely similar tone to it. Something about uber battery, everything else sucked, the netbook sucks, 2 yr old laptop destroys.
I beret the 7 Starter but have yet to hear of anyone talk about this Acer anywhere near like people talk about Atom netbooks.
