Exceleram Intros Black&White Dual-Channel DDR3 Memory

German boutique memory maker Exceleram announced the new Black&White series of DDR3 memory. The name originates from the modules having black PCBs and white heatspreaders. The first of its kind is a dual-channel DDR3-1600 MHz 8 GB (2x 4 GB) kit. With a module voltage of 1.5V, the modules can run at DDR3-1600 MHz speeds with timings of 9-9-9-24T. Backed by a 10-year warranty, the new kit is said to be available next week.

while 1.5v for 1600 is nice to see, there really doesnt seem anything noteworthy about these.

Wow a 10 year warranty???? As long as they don't screw you over on the EOL status, you are getting free upgrades at some point too with this deal. ;)

i missed that (go me!) but that would be the noteworthy thing i failed to mention in my previous post >.>

my problem with RAM warranty in the past is that they always send back different ram, in my case i've received DDR2 ram in warranty for DDR1, which was really pointless at the time.

Usually the strngest point of Exceleram is the price even if they aren't anything special on paper.
Btw, looks nice in white. Too bad PCB is not white as well like on some Sapphire motherboards. Still, at least it's black. I hate RAM's that vendor brags about looks and then you see a green PCB under the heatsink. Looks really crappy.

10 year warranty is cool. I only take RAM's that have either 10 years of warranty or they have unlimited warranty. It still applies to the EOL and availability but that usually means at least 10 years as well.

I agree, but in hindsight, they just inspired you to upgrade;)

Does any company make RAM with a white PCB?

I haven't seen any. I always wondered why they don't just make all the pcbs black or any other color. If the average person is just browsing for ram they'll be more likely to fork out an extra dollar for a black set over a green one. Unless other dyes costs a lot more it just seems like a thoughtless oversight.

I have never bought a computer part based on its looks as far as I remember.

Some of us do or at least did. Some motherboards really look horrid, though they stopped doing those weird orange, white, yellow and blue with green combinations.

Well frankly that's unusual. The average ram purchaser isn't even going to visit sites like tpu. They're just going to get the best looking cheap kit with a heatspreader and try to jam that ddr3 stick into their ddr2 slot.
