Some Corsair Hydro Series H100 Coolers Affected with Fan Controller Issues

An increasing number of users of Corsair's Hydro Series H100 CPU water cooler have been reporting issues with its fan-controller on the company forums. Acknowledging this, Corsair issued a general warning to all owners of the H100 that it's likely that some of the coolers might be part of a bad manufacturing batch. It looks like Corsair is taking steps towards a general recall (taking back batches of H100 coolers off the shelves, and asking users of affected batches to return their coolers for free replacement).

Affected Hydro Series H100 series units belong to batch #11359403 (the number under the first barcode in the serial number sticker on your H100 package). The issue itself is related to the button on the unit that changes fan profiles. On affected coolers, the button doesn't change the fan profile, and the fan works on the default speeds. This doesn't quite render the cooler dysfunctional, but the cooler doesn't work as advertised, so it's a severe-enough quality issue. Corsair posted some clear directions on what owners of affected units should do next. The post by Corsair can be read here.

Well, Corsair doesn't actually manufacture these units so they can't know everything about it. They test them on their own and they probably inspect manufacturing process but other than that it's out of their hands. They can however provide aftersale support like the one mentioned here.
They will simply replace the units of possibly affected users.

They probably have all this in their contracts so Corsair doesn't lose much in such situations.
They'll probably inspect all the recalled units and if found perfectly fine, they'll send them back into circulation. Either as replacement units for those who RMA their failed but in warranty units or as refurbished new units.

Not really. Corsair is their biggest contract. but they make watercoolers for Antec (920/620) and also Intels new line of 'Sandy Bridge E' (socket 2011) processors.

It's not Asetek, it's CoolIT Systems. Asetek now manufacures Antec's liquid coolers.

General rule of thumb, round pump/plates are Asetek and square/rectangular pump/plates are CoolIT. CoolIT also has a (patented?) mounting system which makes mounting a sinch. While I'm not a fan of CoolIT (exploding Dominos, piss poor QC on the Ecos, and now this), their mounting system really puts the cake in easy.

How about some silly Indiaan dude wasn't doing this job properly? Yeah, it works both ways.

This would be Corsair's second product recall in 3 months, the Force 3 120GB that shipped back June with the wrong Firmware and according to Corsair faulty hardware.
