EVGA Intros GeForce GTX 680 FTW

EVGA launched its GeForce GTX 680 FTW (for the win) Edition graphics cards. The series includes two variants, a 2 GB variant (02G-P4-3686-KR) with overclocked memory, and a 4 GB variant (04G-P4-3687-KR) with Backplate. Both cards utilize EVGA's Signature board design. The 2 GB variant features clock speeds of 1110 MHz (core base), 1176 MHz (core boost), and 6.20 GHz (memory, effective). It is one of the very few graphics card models that ship with overclocked memory. The 4 GB variant, on the other hand, retain the core base/boost clock speeds of its sibling, but the memory clock speed is left untouched, at 6.00 GHz. Both cards draw power from 6-pin + 8-pin power connectors. The EVGA GTX 680 FTW 2 GB is priced at US $569.99, while the EVGA GTX 680 FTW 4 GB w/backplate is priced at US $629.99.

I find it ironic there are more models coming out but there is no stock on the models that are released.
At least there will be some happy performance users, there have been quite a few comments about the 4gb cards.

EDIT
....Guess I didn't look down far enough to see the KFA2 and Zotac mentions of their 4gb versions.

I would rather buy a regular GTX 680 with 4 GB and charge us $50 more.
GTX 680 2 GB (6 pin + 6 pin) $499.99
GTX 680 4 GB (6 pin + 6 pin) $549.99

Overclocking wise, it's only a matter of 3 - 5 fps more with extra mumbo jumbo phase.

Don't forget that real prices will be in the order of $679 and $729, you know, low supply, offer & demand and stuff....

the shadow of the GTX 685 is around somewhere but I am very skeptical ...

If will be released ... All of these cards will be obsolete for those who wanted to get the most out of Kepler

I wonder when they'll release the Classified Ultra, hopefully with voltage control because GTX 680 reference overclocking sucks atm, unless you want to voltage mod it with an untouchables.

Lackluster Benchmarks

So far the stock clocks of the FTW 4GB edition have been pretty much the same (and worse in some cases) than the benchmarks I have seen from OC'd reference 680s. The only thing I can see taking advantage of this card are games such as GTA for draw distance texturing, but that relies mostly on the CPU due to the crappy port. Games like WoW will also benefit, but most cards can process the textures quick enough to not have them reside in the memory too long. My take on it? I don't think this will be worth it... If I am going to spend $600+ on a GPU, it will be the GK110 based 685 if and when it comes out.

I agree... It almost seems like the initial launch of 2GB cards was so that they could rape us with the 4GB ones that should have been the only option...
