Black Ops 2 Could Put Activision in Legal Trouble

Activision is already going at it in court with Jason West and Vince Zampella over their dismissal from Infinity Ward in 2009, but a clause in a Memorandum of Understanding filed with the lost wages and royalties suit in 2010 could affect the recently announced Call of Duty: Black Ops 2. According to Game Informer, Activision continues to hold the rights to the Call of Duty franchise, but Call of Duty games set in "modern day (post Vietnam), the near future or distant future" would be retained by Infinity Ward. With Black Ops 2 set in 2025, developer Treyarch put a lot of thought in the futuristic setting. An intellectual property attorney said that, if West and Zampella win their suit, Activision could be forced to pull the game, but a more likely scenario is money damages awarded by the court.

However, clause 4(D) at the end of the memorandum specifically states that if IW management (Ward and Zampella) are no longer employed by Activision, then the terms of the memorandum are no longer in effect. This seems to override any potential problem, but it is yet another issue that the court must rule on. With Black Ops 2 setting pre-order records, the game could be a cash cow for Activision. A ruling against the publishing giant, though, could mean West and Zampella would get prime cuts of that cow if the employment clause is not enforced.

The most depressing thing I have read since Goober died is the fact that Black Ops 2 is setting pre-order records. I don't wanna live on this planet anymore.

All Activision games have one thing in common. They are all way too expensive and they don't seem to ever get cheaper. Up yours Activision...

lol, it's my hate for COD, not many things get me going, but thats one. And I can assume these guys must hate Activision after they nurtured a franchise to fame (granted it took a turn I didn't like), then got canned basically because they make too much money. If that was me and I was given the opportunity to basically make them throw away a game they have millions invested in, I would take that chance in a heart beat.

A small bit Irish, mostly Finn and Swede.

When you buy a Plasma TV it is very crucial you burn in the screen evenly. What I did is I ran a 100 hour solid color slide show and than added the corresponding settings from this fella who tunes TV's. The picture ended up being awesome, and games look even better now.

:article I'm talking about:
I cannot confirm nor deny I like Oliver North. (80's joke)

However I don't think the writer of the article was old enough to wipe his ass during the 80's and there is WAY more to the Iran contra then he is leading younger readers to believe. I'm not gonna derail this thread or get into some major debate but Oliver North being a spokes person for CoD is funny as hell.

IKR, these games make people dumber and they set sales records. The series has never attracted me.. Yay, point, boom, teabag dead guy, game over. lame..
If I wanted to run around aimlessly, listening to 12 year olds, shout like little girls. I'd go hang out at a elementary school. No tx.. :nutkick:

to be fair the pc version seems devoid of conversation during matches, ive never heard anyone in it ( hardly ever plug a headset in tho) and clearly some people are enjoying its casual playing nature, i personally treat it as a casual game, i still havent finished m3's 1 player whereas other ,Proper games get hammered by me till they are done ala crysis ,portal 2, farcry, batman , dirt(anything bar showdown) etc

I still am baffled by their debate , but dont really care as im sick of the same stale engine and game locals time after time anyway, its time for a change
