I know that MSI isn't doing this intently, I'm sure that they had lots of leftover promo items from CES or something and want to get rid of them. The board is just enticement.
The other option is that MSI likes to remind people that second place is the first loser :laugh:

Miserable, MSI people expect 5-10 MSI 7970 lightening, ASUS people expect 5-10 Matrix,... Look on EVGA NEX Giveaway... 13.000$ worth, company with 200 employers.
People get hardware same week when retailers.
Do you know... I don't know is that true or not, one guy told he won motherboard from MSI, and they send broken motherboard and he can't get replacement.
Can you imagine... I swear in god he told that... I guess it's true because he non stop talk he finished with MSI. That was before 2-3 years.
edit: or call their biggest competitor, ask if they could help out with a prize, then run a big news story on it.
