Corsair Announces Obsidian 750D Enthusiast PC Case

Corsair announced its much-anticipated Obsidian 750D ATX full-tower case (model: CC-9011035-WW). Positioned between the Obsidian 800D the company debuted its case lineup with, and the Obsidian 650D, the case is designed to provide oodles of room for storage devices, long expansion cards, and enthusiast cooling solutions. To begin with, it measures 235 x 560 x 546 mm (WxHxD), dry-weighing about 9.5 kg. The primary material is steel, with brushed aluminium for the front-panel, and ABS for drive cages and other novelties.

The Obsidian 750D can house XL-ATX, EATX, and HPTX motherboard form-factors, in addition to common ATX types. The motherboard tray has valved cutouts for cabling/tubing at the right places, and a cutout around the CPU socket area, to help manage coolers better. The drive storage area is pretty modular. There are three fixed 5.25-inch drive bays, and two detachable 3.5/2.5-inch bay cages, which can either be arranged along the floor of the case to create more room for long expansion cards, or just below the 5.25-inch cage, to create room for longer PSUs, and fixed-cable spaghetti. Each 3.5/2.5-inch detachable cage can hold three drives. There are four other 2.5-inch bays along the plane of the motherboard tray, which can be access through the right panel.
Moving on to its ventilation system, the Obsidian 750D features a detachable front panel, which reveals a front intake with room for two 120 mm fans (included). With a little drive-bay management inside, you could create room for a 240 x 120 mm radiator at this spot. The rear panel includes a single 140 mm exhaust (included). With the drive cages moved to below the 5.25-inch ones, you get two 120 mm intakes. On the top, you get room for either two 140 mm or three 120 mm exhausts. Front-panel connectivity includes HD audio jacks, and two each of USB 3.0 (standard header), and USB 2.0/1.1 (standard header) ports. Corsair Obsidian 750D is priced at US $159.99.

We posted this exact article last week, Corsair asked us to remove it because they hadn't really launched the case back then, we weren't NDA signatories, but obliged to their request. That thread had some Corsair-bashing due to a >$160 price that Corsair put up on Amazon, which caused a pyroclastic flow of Corsair hate, so we deleted those comments, and changed timestamp of that thread to today.

I am tempted to get one with that price now. This can now be considered to be the best case at that price tag.

Haha, now it is going from worst case launch to best case launch. At this price it is a very tempting buy.

Plenty of competition from cheaper cases below if they don't need all those features, plenty of competition from above if you want more space for rads.

Don't know if this Corsair is a better choice than Cooler Master Cosmos SE

I still wish they would make one with the PSU at the top taking in air from outside top of the case. Giving more space for the gpu to breath which then they could make the bottom able to take 3 fans inputting air for the hottest part of a gaming PC.

At $159, I'm really impressed. I'm glad that 90% of what I've asked George from Corsair on reddit has been delivered (though I'm certain I wasn't the only person thinking/asking about it).

My thoughts exactly. The case is good but could be better. I would have liked to see it with a 3 front intake fans so you could easily do 2x 360 mm rads, one up top and one in the front. But other than that, I think they have done good job here.

I like how they redid the SSD cages and put the mesh on top versus leaving that unsightly grill exposed. At first I thought I read that this was more comparable to the 800D in size, but its actually only a touch larger than the 650D it replaces.

Almost makes me want to go back to an ATX setup, but I'll stick to the 350D.

I'm curious if they designed this new case to properly fit their H110 rad mounted in the top position. When I looked into the H110 earlier there was a lot of clearance issues.

This case is awesome. I really like the looks and the layout. I only plan to use mini-ITX or micro-ITX boards but I just might buy this to replace my current case. Great job Corsair!

This could be the perfect case for those of us who like the 900D, but don't really need all that space (and expense). It looks almost as good, but in a more practical size, and has enough water cooling options for all but the most extreme custom loops. The $159.99 price is unbelievable, the 650D is still listed on Corsair's website for $199.99! It is similar in size to the 650D, being only 1.5" taller and 0.3" wider (same depth), and it hopefully fixes all the problems and annoyances of the older case. I like that extra 1.5 inches, as it lets you install fatter radiators and/or push/pull fans. This case fills in yet another market segment in their already comprehensive lineup of enthusiast cases.

Really nice case...but would it have hurt them to have one more 5.25 bay?
