Physical measurements of NVIDIA G80 series released

The gigantic 8800GTX may have some serious trouble fitting in some cases, being a whopping 28 centimeters long. In comparison, the ATI X1900XTX is "only" 23.5 centimeters long. The NVIDIA 8800GTS is shorter, at 24 centimeters, and only requires one power plug. Both cards have their power plug(s) at the top of the card, and have coolers that are 4 centimeters thick.

28 cm is rediculously long.
They really have to look into shrinking the cards and the amount of power they use

Damn. I want to pick up a GTX whenever they're released but I'm not sure it'll fit. The X1900 barely fits in my case (P180) as it is. 4.5 cm longer might be running into the hard drives...

As I have heard around...
Sooner or later they are going to either have to lower the size of the GPU or we are going to need full tower cases.

What irony...everybody will rush to get a GTX when at the beginning at least, the GTO will probably be made using the same core.....thus, likely unlockable.

Maybe some people will learn loving PCIe 2.0 now. Will remove the need for power cables for gfx cards as PCIe 2.0 is designed to feed those monsters over the bus :D

it will work for a while but it will eventually get overpowered sry but thats just how things work remeber agp 2.0 it was made to supply power over the bus as no need for external but it was replaced b/c hte cards needed more than that plus that just overloads the mobo powerconnections so its a stupid ideea for ppl who oc the hell outta both cause it means a voltmod is needed out of the box to get good stable performance

I will not be paying for it, at least not more than 150$, My friend is buying my 7800GT for $220 and I am buying an eVGA 7900GTO for $250 and will step up to the 8800GT in 90 Days for $150 more. :toast:

Ya gotta know how to work the system man. :)

well if I did end up buying this monster, I wont mind shelling out more for a new case... whats an extra $150 on top of the monstrous price of this card. My matrix case is only gonna cost me $55 keeping it cheap, and small.

Maybe they'll invent flexible graphics cards that can be bent to the shape of your case soon? :D

Theyll end up ditching the pcp board or w/e and just do it like they do cpus or do it like they plan on doing it late 2008 with merging the cpu and gpu.
