AMD Announces Catalyst 15.7.1 WHQL Drivers

AMD announced its latest Catalyst Software Suite following Microsoft Windows 10 launch, Catalyst 15.7.1 WHQL. It adds DirectX 12 (feature level 12_0) support for all Radeon GPUs based on the Graphics CoreNext architecture, including the first-gen GCN chips, such as the HD 7000 series. To compatible GPUs, the driver enables Virtual Super-Resolution (VSR), Frame Rate Target Control (FRTC), and FreeSync (including FreeSync with CrossFire). It addresses a number of bugs specific to Windows 10.

I just installed it and decided to try VSR on my card, GTA 5 at 1440 it looks amazing and despite the ?higher? memory requirements it still plays as smoothly. Windows 7.

Smoother than applying AA to get the same kind of effect? I haven't tried VSR on my 390 yet so maybe I should just give it whirl and maybe I can answer some of my own questions.

Been saying this for some time now, how ever the power usage is higher than just using AA. but i will say if you ever plan to play GTA 4 again use VSR to give that AA effect.

Not as good as top quality AA, but it really amplifies the effect of AF and sharpens up most objects.

I think AA would have had larger performance effect without all the other benefits.

Scrizzthey need a Win10 driver for 4800 series.
This is not my doing... got this from AMD: Windows® 10 Driver Support for AMD Radeon™ Graphics Products
Products That Do Not Support Windows® 10

AMD Radeon™ HD 4000 Series products and older are not certified to support Windows Display Driver Model (WDDM) 1.2 or higher and therefore, do not have driver support for Windows® 10.

(more in spoiler)

The following is a list of graphics products that do not support Windows® 10:
  • ATI Radeon™ HD 4000 Series /ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 4000 Series Graphics
  • ATI Radeon™ HD 3000 Series /ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 3000 Series Graphics
  • ATI Radeon™ HD 2000 Series /ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 2000 Series Graphics
  • ATI Radeon™ X1### Series/ATI Mobility Radeon™ X1### Series Graphics
  • ATI Radeon™ X### Series/ATI Mobility Radeon™ X### Series Graphics
  • ATI Radeon™ 9000 Series Graphics
  • ATI Radeon™ 8500 Graphics
  • ATI Radeon™ 7500 Graphics
  • ATI Radeon™ DDR Graphics
  • ATI Radeon™ 7000 Graphics
  • ATI Radeon™ 7000VE Graphics
  • ATI Radeon™ 7000LE Graphics
Windows® 10 will install the default Microsoft® Basic Display Driver (MBDD) for these graphics adapters. MBDD provides basic display functionality (low resolutions and color) on a single monitor but DOES NOT support:
  • Display scaling control
  • Multiple displays
  • Display rotation
  • Video capture
  • Power settings
  • VSync control
  • Brightness control on integrated display panels
  • AMD Catalyst™ Control Center
If your system is equipped with an AMD Radeon™ HD 4000 Series product or older, you may consider the following options:
  1. Continue using the existing operating system.
  2. If you have already upgraded to Windows® 10 and would like to revert back to the previous version of Windows, refer to this Microsoft page for instructions.
  3. Upgrade to an AMD graphics product that provides Windows® 10 support. For information about resellers and product availability, visit: http://shop.amd.com
NOTE: Before upgrading ensure that your system meets the requirements of the graphics adapter, such as:
      1. Motherboard with compatible graphics card slot
      2. Adequate power supply unit to handle the complete system power requirements
      3. Display with compatible connections
