AMD 65nm products soon

This year, Intel boasted at IDF about being the only company shipping 65nm chips. This is about to change.

The Inquirer reports that system integrators already have their hands on AMD's 65nm X2 CPUs. They have been shipping for 2 weeks already. The CPUs will be available to the public early 2007, yet they will be nothing more than a re-designed 90nm part.

If you're lucky, you could find one of these in an assembled HP or Dell AMD machine this year.

Below is a picture of AMD's 65nm X2 CPU:

What are you carrying on about now? How was that post a gauge of my intelligence? I'm aware Xeons are not AMD parts, if that was what you were implying.

Well, it made no sense at all? What do Xboxes and Xeons have to do with AMD's 65nm process?
Then again if I'm being the idiot here please tell me, I could use it as an excuse to go home early.

Because it's been widely published, since April of 2006, that the XBOX 360's XEON CPU is to get a 65nm die shrink. By the end of 2006 or early 2007. If AMD has 65nm, then Intel should be pretty damn close don't you think?

Do some research next time, before running your mouth about someones intelligence. Now take the rest of the day off.

Its "Xenon" not Xeon.

Xeon is intels server line. (Which have infact been 65nm for a while now)

Xenon is an IBM chip.

Oh, and just so you know, I'm running a 65nm Merom CPU right now.

Should do your research before bashing a mod.

Well I stand corrected then, thank you!

The fact that he's a mod, is all the more reason he shouldn't be posting those types of comments.

If you didn't notice, he was screwing with you.

Which I actually found rather entertaining, and normal for danjoman.

The daily pissin contest...

DD, SOS

Nice to see AMD has released their 65 nano CPUs which use even less power and produce less heat with a TDP of 65W.

This is good and all... very slow coming but at this point you take what you can get, its a step in the right direction at least. The sad part is they are just now catching up the old processors with technology that should have been done a lot sooner... laziness or ego's not sure. The downside is we are still waiting for the next line of processors from amd... just seems like they are taking their time is all, I like amd I just think they need to understand that intel is actually fighting back this time around.

don't mind Dan... besides if he left work early there would be no one there to take care of the goats... considering he is a big XEON fan ...pssst ... look at his avatar, I think he was pulling your goat ... typical banjo humor... all is good :toast:

As for the AMD 65nm ...... I'm with Bornfree ... less power and produces less heat, kind of like the tortose and the hair race ... he may not be winning but the tortose is much cooler in his new shell

Core2 has been out for what now, like 5 months? How long did the athlon 64 completely dominate the netburst arch? 2-3 years? Why do people get so razzled that intel updated their cpu's? What did you expect them to do, release a new arch after years of the p4 that DIDN'T outperform their competitor? Amd isn't as large as Intel, in regards to production capacity. I'm not really worrying, AMD might not own the performance crown, but their lower end cpu's are selling pretty well. Amd has designed it's platform(AM2), they're transitioning to 65nm, and soon after, we'll have a major architectural update.

Urlyin: nice avatar, I have a bunch of artwork from that artist on my pc...i forget his name..
