Wii tops holiday sales
It may be the underdog in terms of power, but it's certainly enjoying much more success than the Playstation 3. Both consoles were released in the USA and Japan at around the same time, but the Wii is outselling Sony's offering by two to one. Microsoft still holds the next generation market share with 10 million units having shipped, although it was released a year earlier, with Nintendo aiming for 4 million units in early 2007. Sony has suffered from high production costs and shortages of components needed to build the PS3, after dominating the market with the PS2.

They did the same thing to the PSP. The PS3 is selling less because it costs more than twice what the stupid Wii costs, and same goes for the DS in terms of sells!
360 hasn't shown to be weak compared to the ps3 to the average gamer. And In fact games look pretty much the same and sometimes better on the 360. So when the average gamer see this he thinks of the price difference. Bam so he goes with the 360.
And here come Nintendo with just a slight amount of innovation. Brining something to the gaming world and development world that people seem to love. Not only that the system is dirt cheap. There marketing strategy was to have it catch on with families and older people. AND IT IS ACTUALLY WORKING. Ive been over friends house and seen the entire families playing from age 12 to 70.
I myself was a raving ps3 lunatic until I saw that they no longer had there killer app (Kill Zone) and the price tag was 600 dollars.
I plan on getting a Wii and Super Smash, then upgrading my computer and then MAYBE picking up a 360 one day. If I want a ps3 I can go over my friends house. Shiz but half the time were all playing the 360 or Wii.
Nintendo deserves to be ahead of Sony. I hope I'll get a Wii soon.
I was planning on getting a PS3 but the huge delays and the equally huge price tag put me off, as well as the fact that although it has all that processing power there will be a bottleneck (probably the GPU, that will be dated quickly compared to PCs). I'm not only interested in graphics, but TBH I'm playing my Wii on a 21" CRT and it looks much better than my PS2 did and the graphics are still perfectly acceptable. I do like the look of the Xbox 360, but one of the main things I wanted was wireless networking (admittedly online multiplayer isn't available on the Wii yet) but the 360 doesn't offer that without paying a lot extra over the base version.
Any the Wii the Wii's only inovation isn't the motion sensing - the ability to point itself is very good, as is having two separate parts of the controller, very useful. The default control method in NFS: Carbon is awful, but I've found one that suits me. The problem is I can't scratch my face whilst playing or it will throw the handbrake on...
Admittedly the PS3 isn't out here yet and I haven't tried one, so I can't be a true judge of which is the best, but having played the Wii and the 360 I think the Wii edges it because of a slightly lower price tag and a bit of innovation rather than just more power.
