Phanteks Launches Sub-Brand MetallicGear

Phanteks has announced the MetallicGear sub-brand which focuses on creating contemporary, innovative, and accessible products for hardware enthusiasts. MetallicGear makes its debut at Computex 2018 with its new line of NEO Series cases. Currently, there are four models under the NEO family. The NEO is a standard mid-tower case made of an aluminum and steel chassis with a tempered glass side panel. This model supports motherboards up to the ATX factor, and it also comes with seven expansion slots. The NEO can house a single 240 mm or 280 mm radiator. The expected MSRP for the NEO is $99.99. The NEO Micro is the micro ATX variant of the family. Due to the reduced size, this model only comes with four expansion slots and support for a 240 mm radiator. The NEO Micro carries a $84.99 price tag.

The NEO Mini is the next model in line which targets mini-ITX users. This particular variant only has two expansions slots. Nevertheless, it has the same radiator support as the NEO. The NEO Mini costs around $69.99. And last, but certainly not least, MetallicGear also offers the NEO-G Mini, which is a slightly modified version of the NEO Mini. The differences reside in the front panel's design and the orientation of the motherboard. The NEO Mini features a conventional vertical orientation, while the NEO-G Mini's design allow the motherboard to sit horizontally on the case. The NEO-G Mini also comes with one extra expansion slot. The price for this model is $79.99.

Well. All those who complain about the lack of minimalist design choices, here it is.

Looks pretty neat - this already beats the InWin portfolio by miles IMO.. Phanteks has some really good designers over there.

I used one of these cases for about 2 years, the quality is great. Glad to see they're finally making it to the US. Do you have pictures of the ITX one? It should only support a single 120mm fan up front and dual 80mm in back.

nevermind I found pics on their website

This is the one I was hoping to see, it's a bit smaller and air flow probably isnt as good. It looks like they brought the P37E and P66E over though.

Aside from the black one which isn't clear they all look to follow the recent Phantek tradition of being starved for air.

The only recent one they didn't mess up was the P350X

Isn't it just the Enthoo that suffers from that? As in non existant top vents though you can place a 360 rad up there.

But its no secret anyway that Phanteks focuses on AIO/water cooled rigs in their designs. The P300 is a good example, it lacks the width to fit high end air towers.

All the Eclipses. Its similar to NZXT with their top bottom style air entry and the new non-removable front style flush top leaving only one side and the bottom.

The styles look nice.

Nice, very nice!

Good price for the buck. I could see myself building a micro ATX build with those.

Hoping for a version with a mesh front. Could be the same pattern as the Neo G Mini, but instead of the masked glass front it should be metal cutout with a mesh behind to fit into the line up.

These all have fairly wide vents on both sides of the front, so I don't see the problem. I mean, I love the mesh front panel on my Obsidian 750D High Airflow, but not everyone needs that much air flow.
PowerPCGood job, Jonsbo!
These do remind me of Jonsbo aluminum cases (sold as DIYPC in the US). These look like better quality, though.

I personally don't like all mesh fronts due to air noise. I rather have a cover to dampen the air noise but provide enough room to feed the fans.

If you look at the case on their web-site the USBs on the side cover the length of the front top fan placement. The top fan will only be sucking air from the rightside.

Depending how big the front USB and A/V unit is the wiring might be crossing in front of the fan as well.

It crosses in front of the top fan.

You can see more pictures of the Micro ATX version here. ATX here. Both of these are the non-mesh versions (Primo P37E & P66E)

It has great potential for modding the front and moving those ports, to the front, or top.

raschmidtPrimo is the OEM, not Jonsbo.
It's a Jonsbo ripoff.

Its nothing like a Jonsbo case. I've built in a dozen Jonsbo cases and the build quality is nowhere near as good as the MetallicGear/Primo cases I've built in. They don't even look alike in person.

Airflow is my gripe in a lot of cases , yes I know phanteks focus on water cooling but you still need good airflow with water cooling !!! And it’s only cool as the ambient room temperature. Whether you air cool or water cool airflow is very very important . I partularly don’t like cases with glass fronts or air vents at top bottom of the glass or metal front . Mesh front or a graphics cut into front like the enthoo has is fine . I tried many cases I like corsairs alpha omega , and the new cooler master m500 I think that’s the one it has option for either glass or mesh front . Don’t know about this one why a different branding ? Is phanteks not good enough name !!!! Or something else

You want to tell me this is literally not a design ripoff of the "Jonsbo RM3 Black - RGB"? I'm talking about the case in the article. How can you know what it's like to build in it, if you can't even buy it yet? Even if it is, it's probably a more expensive case than Jonsbo. Anyway, you said they are nothing like each other when they literally look the same... I'm not even mad like Thermaltake vs. Caselabs fags, I was just pointing out how similar they look.

EDIT: Can't post the picture for some reason

Reminds me of when Asus launched ASRock .... Saw lots of marketing speak that still left folks scratching their heads. I remember thinking up my own at the time:

"OK, we ain't making no money from the HUGE builder market where emphasis is on price only. We thought that if we put Asus logo on those, it would negatively affect our branding as a vendor of enthusiast quality products, so we don't want our name on them. This allows us to sell low budget products and grab a piece of that market. " Then I started gasping when TS responses from emails to Asus TS were responded from JoeBlow@Pegatron.com

Now ASR is on their own, still w/ Pegatron a sparent company and selling quality products to compete with Asus.

From the press release again I got no indication of where I should start when looking for a case. What us supposed to attract a buyer to one or the other.
