Star Citizen is Now Available for Free Until November 30th - If You Can Download It

The free, one week-long trial for Star Citizen is now live, but something is amiss: users trying to connect to Roberts Space Industries' website in hopes of registering and downloading the game so as to see what all the funding (and fuss) is all about in a more hands-on approach are being met with a 504 Gateway Time-Out error. It seems that the company - or one of its service providers - is failing to provide enough server oomph to sustain all the users trying to get a piece of indiscriminate space flying on their hands. Provided the servers are fully restored before the end of the trial, you can access here to register, and here to download the game's executable.

So Star Citizen's free week is in fact a very fine bit of natural selection.

I like it.

lexluthermiesterUm, yes it was. This whole thread has been about being able to try out Star Citizen for free, which can be done if people follow the directions given.
Yes you can TRY the game for free but the game was never set to be free to play in general. They have had these open TRY periods a few times before if i remember correctly too.

To anyone who's played this much talked about game, is it worth pledging $45?
I notice that they now have a single player game, Squadron42 and since I'm not a fan of any kind of online gaming, would it be worth splashing out just to gawp at the delicious looking graphics.
I'm a sucker for graphics you see.

I've got big expectations for Squadron 42. I don't really care about the Star Citizen multiplayer. I'm waiting until the game is finished and take a look at it then. If it's as good as I think it will be then I will happily pay full price for it. The latest I've seen on it Squadron 42 should be finished sometime next year but as I'm sure you know there have been a lot of delays from Cloud Imperium. In any case one day we should have a very nice single player game set in the Star Citizen Universe.

I'll wait then, and hope the temptation passes.
