Alpenföhn Unveils the Brocken ECO Advanced CPU Cooler

Alpenföhn today unveiled the Brocken ECO Advanced CPU cooler, available for pre-order through Overclockers UK in the EU. The Brocken ECO Advanced is the latest CPU cooler from German manufacturer Alphenfohn. It sports an asymmetrical design, with a compact size allowing almost universal compatibility of the adjacent RAM modules - no matter the height of the heat spreader.

The Brocken ECO Advanced offers an overall increased cooler size and with a new high performance fan gives cooling support for a TDP of 170 Watts; making it perfect for overclockers. It's ultra-quiet 120 mm WingBoost 3 fan, featuring redesigned blades and a fixed guide, increased volume flow whilst reducing total noise output.
The features of the Alpenfohn Brocken Eco Advanced at a glance:
  • High-performance CPU cooler rated at with a 170W TDP
  • Four 6mm heat pipes in nickel-plated copper
  • Efficient WingBoost 3 fan in 120mm format
  • Improved RAM compatibility thanks to asymmetric design
  • Compatibility with AMD and Intel
  • Redesigned installation process for easy mounting
Compact design with increased cooling performance
The Alpenföhn Brocken ECO Advanced is a full redesign on the original Brocken ECO offering a increased cooler size and with the addition of a high-performance fan. Alpenföhn has been able to increase the efficiency of the Brocken ECO Advanced to a TDP of 170 Watts.

The compact dimensions of the Brocken ECO Advanced makes it a great choice for smaller cases with it's 149mm design fitting in even the most limited cooler clearance.

Asymmetrical design for maximum compatibility
The Brocken Eco Advanced 6mm heat pipes are embedded directly into the baseplate between the processor and cooler using Alpenföhn's Gapless H.D.T technology. The dual-fin tower design now has fins grouped in threes to result in a large heat dissipation area along with excellent airflow characteristics that allow it's fan to operate at the lowest speeds possible.

The Alpenföhn Brocken ECO Advanced double tower now faces in one direction, this asymmetrical design means it's not exactly centred above the end plate, but rather slightly offset to the rear. This offers increased motherboard compatibility and significantly reduces the chance of RAM slots being unusable due to their tall high spread designs.

High performance cooling from the WingBoost 3 120mm fan
Alpenföhn includes an ultra-modern WingBoost 3-series fan which, thanks to the new angle of attack of the fan blades, offers a significantly higher volume flow, total pressure and exhaust speed all at the same time. The static pressure is significantly increased by a fixed integrated guide wheel in the fan frame, and this also contributes to a reduction in the turbulence in the air flowing away from it. The result is a further optimisation of the radial flow and a reduction in noise. There is also a PWM connection including a Y-splitter. Up to three additional PWM fans can be connected to a single slot on the motherboard.

Technical Details:
  • Dimensions (with fan): 126 x 149 x 93 mm (W x H x D)
  • Weight (with fan): approx. 660 g
  • Material: Copper (baseplate, heatpipes), aluminium (fins)
  • Heatpipes: 4x Ø 6 mm
  • Fan: 1x 120 mm
    o Speed: 500 - 1600 RPM
    o Airflow: max. 50.9 CFM
    o Sound: 13.5 to 24.8 dB(A)
    o Connections: 4-Pin PWM (with Y-splitter)
  • Compatibility:
    o Intel Sockets 775, 1150, 1151, 1155, 1156, 1366, 2011, 2011-V3, 2066
    o AMD Sockets AM2, AM2+, AM3, AM3+, AM4, FM1, FM2, FM2+
The Alpenföhn Brocken ECO Advanced is available for pre-order through Overclockers UK for GBP £34.99.

No, I believe your Brocken will be, at most, broken.

Corrected =)

It's a very unfortunate name for anything tech related. Brocken mountain has been connected with witches and devils; Johann Wolfgang von Goethe took up the legends in his play Faust.

Sounds good... we have HP Omen, Powercolor Devil 666Euro priced cards, and yet this is unfortunate :D

looks more like a rehash of just about every 4 pipe/600g cooler. Adding different or better fans does not make it "new".
