AMD Releases Radeon Software 19.7.5 - Still No Fix to Elevated RX 5700 Idle Fan-Noise

AMD ended July with the fifth release of Radeon Software Adrenalin 2019 Edition for the month, version 19.7.5 beta. The drivers address an application crash noticed with "Wolfenstein: Youngblood" on Radeon RX 5700 series graphics cards, which is the only item on the change-log. AMD identified a number of new "known issues," but the 50 percent increased idle fan-speeds on RX 5700 series isn't one of them.

Are you sure AMD didn't "rush" out their fifth driver this month?

Still happy to have actual AMD drivers on my E485.

Suggesting bias by calling out Nvidia too? Interesting.

Just be nice if they had loads of shiny custom cards available at launch, thus eliminating these tears.

The only fix is not to put the blower there in the first place. AMD haven't learned anything yet?

So cute when they are trying to defend a mediocre product launch AND bad driver support from a multi-million dollar for profit company, all because “meh underdog AMD can do no wrong”

With so many annoying bugs of Zen2 I read, i am now hesitant to consider going TR3. After all nobody should be paying a premium price for half-baked product.

can this die already. What is this shit about idle fan noise? Fan cant even be heard at those rpm. Growing disappointed in these shill headlines by TPU. Ridiculous!

W1zzard has always referenced fan noise in his reviews. It's a certainty that idle fan noise is an issue to him for that matter. This is what he said originally about the 5700XT (you know, because he's a paid shill):
AMD's Radeon RX 5700 XT lacks the highly popular idle-fan-stop feature, but the idle fan settings are excellent—the card is whisper quiet and pretty much inaudible unless you put your ear right next to it on an open bench.
But now it's not as quiet. So he's absolutely right to point it out. I still figure it'll get sorted but to call TPU a shill is a joke. If you don't like it-- go elsewhere.

TR4 is on a different micro-code and different steeping compare to AM4, so the same bugs do no apply.
Wait and see what issues it might have, but I assume it would be better than this launch.

Agree on the ram dying. Fan noise can be mitigated, death cannot. Can't agree on the RTX, it's a nice effect. Quake RTX was pretty cool. But it'll take years to come to fruition.

And you might need some lozenges for that cough.:p

W1zzard commented that the card was very quiet at idle but his tests at gaming load resulted in 43 dBA, he also commented that at load it had the same noise level as the XT and thought that possibly AMD did not adjust down the fan profile to account for 50w less power, in any case the point will be moot as within a few weeks most people will be buying non reference cards that presumably will have improved cooling solutions and a customised bios.

Are you capable of admitting there is an issue with your shill accusations without resorting to brand comparisons?

Just curious.
