Nixeus Introduces the EDG 34 Monitor: 34" VA, 3440 x 1440, 144 Hz, 4 ms, FreeSync, 1500R
Nixeus has made their EDG 34 monitor available for pre-order through several retailers. The EDG 34, like the name not-so-subtly implies, carries a 34" diagonal panel based on VA technology. The resolution available on this panel stands at 3440 x 1440, so it has slightly lesser performance requirements than a 4K solution would, which can, at this point in time, be more of a strength than a handicap. The 4 ms gray-to-gray response is adequate, and the FreeSync support in the range of 48 Hz through 144 Hz, whilst giving pause, should be enough for most gaming scenarios - if you are driving this monitor, you most likely have powerful graphics hardware anyhow.
A 1500R curvature ensures the edges of the monitor are at the same distance from your eyes as the center. Color reproduction stands at a standard 16.7 million colors, and peak brightness is rated at 400 nits. Connectivity-wise, the monitor offers 2x DisplayPort 1.2 and 2x HDMI 2.0 ports (with refresh rates capped at 100 Hz). A 3.5 mm audio connector and VESA support are also part of the package. All of this can be had starting at a very interesting $499 on Newegg.

For example, Control gets around 35fps at 4K even on a 2080Ti, given we only get about 30% performance improvements every 18 months or so, to get the most out of this monitor playing Control you will have to have a top of the line GPU from 2028!!!
Ok so it won't be that long for Control because of optimisations but bear in mind new games will be harder to play than old game so it will be interesting to see how long it will take GPUs to catch up to 4K 144fps with everything turned up high.
although my current 1070 can do 75hz on 1440/1620p (no real need for more) maxed out depending the game ... i see no issues with that monitor (aside the stand who is indeed a little thin)
if that brand was sold locally where i live ... i think i would have found my new monitor, since nope ... i think i will get by with a 32" Philips 325E1C/00 (2.5k 1500r curvature 4ms VA 75hz adaptive sync ) or 328FJAB/00 (32" 1500r curvature 4ms VA 60hz Freesync) and last option for the slightly more expensive, AOC AG322QC4 (2.5k 1800r curvature 4ms VA 144hz adaptive sync ok, official manufacturer description mention FreeSync2)
all 3 of them are around 400 to 550$ where i live all of them have a 2.5k resolution, are curved and the last one is 144hz (not that it is wanted ... it's a bit like 4k ... unwanted for now and to say some big name want to push 5k and 8k)
1440/1620p75 is the sweetspot for anything up to 32/34"
I wouldn't buy anything with less than 100hz these days, so this monitor kind of works for me.

I guess I'll never upgrade.
