Philips Announces 49" 165 Hz 498P9Z Monitor

This SuperWide 49" screen, with its 5120 x 1440 resolution, is designed to replace multi-monitor setups for a truly wide view with a 32:9 aspect ratio. It feels just like having two 27" 16:9 QuadHD (2560 x 1440) displays side-by-side. Any professional will be amazed by the extra screen real estate by upgrading to a 49" monitor: spreadsheets become fully visible, while video makers and programmers can keep an eye on the previews and timelines at the same time. The screen's 1800R curve ensures a more immersive and comfortable experience, mirroring the natural field of view and reducing glare and distortion. Architects, graphic designers, video makers, programmers and those working in finance all need space that allows multiple program windows to be visible at the same time, supporting their creativity and boosting their productivity - but this screen is certain to impress any user.

Thanks to its 165 Hz refresh rate, the Philips 498P9Z is not only a workhorse, but a dream-machine for gaming. With its VESA-certified DisplayHDR 400 support it delivers a significant step up from normal SDR displays, producing astonishing brightness, contrast and colours. Its fuller palette of rich colours is a pleasure to behold, while the 165 Hz refresh rate and Adaptive-Sync technology deliver effortlessly smooth gaming when the work is done. Any media displayed on the screen is enhanced and delivered at its best, and the monitor can also easily support casual gaming sessions, a few battle royale rounds, a short take-off and landing in a flight simulator, or a couple of laps of rallying in between.
Created for professionals and high-frequency users, visualisation is easy on the eye. With anti-glare and low monitor reflection, images are crystal clear with pure colour and excellent clarity. Eye care technologies like FlickerFree, EasyRead mode and LowBlue mode work together for a more comfortable viewing experience, filtering harmful blue light emissions and eliminating flicker.

Such a wide screen space is ideally suited to multitasking. The ratio and size of the display allow users to open multiple programs and documents at once, without juggling open files: chats, emails, videos and datasheets all find a place on this 49" monitor. But for the most extreme set-ups and multitasking, there's also MultiView technology and a built-in KVM switch. MultiView enables connecting multiple sources and viewing them side-by-side, so users can work with multiple devices like a PC and notebook simultaneously, while thanks to the MultiClient Integrated KVM switch, users will be able to control two separate PCs with one monitor-keyboard-mouse set up, easily toggling between sources. For comfortable and easy use, this model features wide and complete connectivity options, with smart cable management to keep work areas clean and organised. Businesses can gain from using such a large screen with similar features at workstations planned for collaboration, equipping the workers with a single but sufficiently large screen.

Availability & Pricing

The Philips 498P9Z will be available from August 2021 at an RRP of £899.

So basically a slightly cheaper Odyssey G9. Not bad.
Hopefully none of the early teething issues those had.

I guess if you stack two or three on top of each other it might be a decent screen.
