ZeniMax Job Posting Reveals id Software Working on its Next FPS
A job posting with ZeniMax media, the Microsoft-owned game publisher that holds id Software, Bethesda, Machine Games, among other big studios, reveals that id Software is already working on its next first-person shooter. The posting calls for a UI programmer and senior graphics programmer, to "work on legendary id games for PC and next-generation console systems."
It's anybody's guess what this game could be—the next DOOM, making the 2016 reboot part of a trilogy? The next Quake, with MOBA elements or the Ranger timeline reboot? Definitely not the next Wolfenstein, since Machine Games handles the franchise? Something entirely new? Regardless, the posting hints at the likelihood of this new title only targeting PC and next-gen consoles (Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5), cutting out legacy ones (Xbox One, and PlayStation 4).

Franky i dont understand why they are trying to shoehorn MP into DOOM when they already have the perfect IP for MP: Quake.
Pretty sure after a gradual disembarking of Saber and following departure of Tim Willits (also to Saber), we won't see anything Quake-related at least in this decade.
They still have lots of enthusiasts in a team to actually make it, but no one sleazy enough to sell the idea to bosses and most importantly - customers. Tim Willits was id's Todd Howard )))) Doubt that. Reasons are the same. This. The only successful franchise worth milking.
Could be one more attempt at falling hard on their ass with yet another RAGE reboot, but it's very questionable. Seems like after Doom 2016 success that's all they think about, while all other projects are treated as passive income or a checkmark for big-daddy Zenimax(and now Microsoft).
Quake 2/4 timeline won't work because it's too military / starship troopers.
I did some XML modding stuff, never could wrap around lua UI stuff tho...
They can't even make a female character model, and we are talking lead here... all with a constant watch of social
fucktivistsactivists just waiting for a little slip-up :banghead:Last time community begged for Hunter over the course of 2+ years since beta, and all we've got is Athena... who looks less like a commando and more like rhesus monkey with an oversized helmet. :nutkick:
And a straightforward Quake remake with old male protagonist is going to be yet another DOOM.
If anything, I'll share another old rumor: some time ago there were talks of DOOM/Quake crossover with Ranger as a main character, which also went nowhere.
What I'm trying to say is that it's wishful thinking, just like hopes of Rage getting a proper reboot, or like System Shock remake arriving before I turn 50.
Whatever ID makes, it's going to be DOOM even if it's not DOOM, because DOOM sells.
there is this too

Hexen II is still the best looking game published by ID, wile Quake I is the best atmosphere one. Younger generation should enjoy those masterpieces.
