CORSAIR Announces iCUE and Philips Hue Partnership

CORSAIR, a world leader in high-performance gear and systems for gamers, content creators, and PC enthusiasts, today announced an exciting partnership with Signify to integrate Philips Hue smart lighting into the powerful CORSAIR iCUE software ecosystem. Extending CORSAIR iCUE's sophisticated RGB customization and synchronization to the dazzling illumination of Philips Hue light bulbs and lightstrips, users can now control the entire room's lighting with dynamic lighting effects and gradients. Unite your setup, as well as your entire room's lighting, like never before.

Controlling Philips Hue lights right from the desktop via iCUE is incredibly simple and intuitive. iCUE recognizes the Philips Hue Bridge automatically - just switch the Philips Hue integration to "ON" in iCUE settings, and a new Philips Hue tile will appear on the iCUE homepage. From there, users can program and customize Philips Hue light bulbs, lightstrips, and other Philips Hue RGB lights, just as they could a CORSAIR iCUE product, expanding an iCUE setup beyond the PC for even more immersive colorful environments.
As with all iCUE-compatible RGB devices, Philips Hue lights can be set to lighting scenes like Rainbow Wave and Color Pulse, or configured to dynamically react to keystrokes or system temperatures, perfectly synchronized with the rest of your RGB setup. Philips Hue lights can react to your CPU temperature, alert you to notifications, or react to in-game cues from a HOST OF SUPPORTED GAMES. With iCUE and Philips Hue, you can create completely customized lighting conditions and add visual appeal to streams, video, and gameplay, all from a single interface. Switch between profiles in an instant and control your entire Philips Hue lighting setup from an iCUE macro key or shortcut, or with an Elgato Stream Deck utilizing the iCUE plug-in.
"Philips Hue is an innovative industry leader in creating whole room smart lighting experiences and we're delighted to bring the CORSAIR iCUE and Philips Hue together" said Kevin Wasielewski, Senior Director of Alliance Partnership at CORSAIR. "Thanks to the simplicity and ease of iCUE, changing your entire PC room's lighting has never been easier. With nearly the entire lineup of Philips Hue smart lighting now at your command right from your desktop, you can use iCUE software with Philips Hue to create the ultimate RGB lighting environment."

Support for Philips Hue Play gradient light tubes and Philips Hue gradient Signe lights will be available soon.

Not likely. They will be adding more companies though, but I can't say who the next one will be.

I just want real compatibility standardization. I hate how everyone has their own incompatible take on something as simple as RGB. As it is now, you are stuck with whatever capabilities the mfg allows, even though theyre all using similar hardware. Its just kind of a ripoff. They build you a pretty box and then upcharge you to stay in it. Its nice when multiple companies come together to make the stuff work together, but fundamentally its just a slightly bigger box.

Does icue still suck? Are you still stuck with that if you buy these products? Count me out lol. Youre basically telling me I can now have software issues with more RGB products.

IMO, it does not suck. Yes you are "stuck" with icue if you buy corsair products just like you are stuck with other companies rgb software when you buy them. If you dont want to be stuck in an ecosystem, get signal RGB.

You can have software issues with any product? Dont act like iCue is the ONLY one.

There are some open software alternatives that can control multiple brands.

Can't wait on some sort of consortium to have one thing that rules all regarding RGB..

As someone who's used phillips and LiFX for a while, two comments

1. LiFX will never have working software, the razer stuff cant even be minimised let alone run as a tray icon

2. Support is really limited, works with one 'entertainment' zone in the phillips app (one zone per hue hub) - usually single colour synced modes, with some time delay. It's nice to be able to adjust room lighting from within PC software, but you'll still need external contol for when the softwares off (or the PC is) which makes it a bit of a hassle if a game sets the lights to bright red or something, and leaves your roof light stuck there

Me either, even though I seriously loath the current rainbow circus lite 'em up shenanigans like the plague, surely there is someone out there smart enough to develop an all-in-one, hardware/component-agnostic standard system for this...

Perhaps we need a standards body, similar to the USB-If or IEEE to govern & implement the process ?

I found that LiFX products just wouldn't stay connected to my Wifi. I was constantly having to manually reset them to get control back. Haven't had that issue with Hue.

I'm also hoping this iCUE implementation is good and will somehow make use of this tech Razer has that passes lighting cues from the game to the system, although I doubt it will. I find that the Razer software becomes unstable as soon as I enable the Hue connectivity. It's great when it works, but I was experiencing crashes with it enabled.

I still want a remote for my LiFX beam - it's damn near useless since voice commands through google only let it do single colour LED, and all animations and features require an always-on device connected to wifi. If the phone sleeps the app, the animations stop and just... ugh.
