NVIDIA GeForce 522.25 WHQL Drivers Released with RTX 4090 and DLSS3 Support, DirectX12 Performance Improvements
NVIDIA just released the GeForce 522.25 WHQL Game Ready drivers. These are the first official drivers with support for the new GeForce RTX 4090 "Ada" graphics card, and the CUDA 11.8 compute language. The drivers also fix a handful of issues. Lower performance observed in "Teardown" when MSI Afterburner overlay is used; this has been fixed. Texture corruption noticed in "Tiny Tina's Wonderlands" after extended gameplay, has been fixed. Unreal Engine 5.1 crashing when enabling path-tracing in some drivers has been fixed. Game optimizations were added for Gotham Knights, Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection, and Dakar Desert Rally.
Besides RTX 4090, these drivers officially introduce support for DLSS 3, which works only on RTX 40-series (or later) GPUs, as it needs the Optical Flow Accelerator hardware component. Day-zero support is added for a number of titles, including A Plague Tale: Requiem, Justice, Loopmancer, F1 22, Bright Memory: Infinite, SUPER PEOPLE, Microsoft Flight Simulator, and Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered. NVIDIA is also said to have improved the performance of DirectX 12 applications across the board on RTX 30-series "Ampere" graphics cards.

So it's still not fixed, haven't noticed it last time I played the game though. It seems I'm in no need to update to this driver...
I wonder if we will see a shift in GPU design. I doubt it will be useful to - more or less - brut force rasterization performance increases when modern upscaling techniques can achieve even better results. I already said this on another thread - I think it was about CPUs - but in my opinion we'll see a even greater increase in more specialized cores in the future. Just look at the 4090 computing power: Tensor 1.3 PetaFLOPS vs "just" 82.58 TFLOPS for shaders.

YESSo the successor Maxwell will be save for a while...
It was really Apple who accelerated this with their A-series mobile SoCs.
They introduced performance and efficiency CPUs and started including machine learning Neural Engine cores. Their latest SoC has a massive increase in machine learning performance while the traditional cores (CPU & GPU) took a more modest performance increase. I believe Apple includes some signal processing cores as well as their security enclave. There are also media engine cores as well.
A lot of this work started with their proprietary T2 Security Processor which was paired at the time with Intel CPUs. My Mac mini 2018 (Intel Core i7) has a T2 Security Processor. Apple carried these over from A-series SoCs to their M-series silicon.
Apple is doing some pretty slick stuff with their machine learning cores, none of which shows up in conventional benchmarks like Geekbench. And none of these benchmark tools really addresses performance per watt metrics.
As specialized cores increase, the usefulness of these traditional benchmarking tools will diminish. We are already seeing this in gaming benchmarks. In the old days, you could run a graphics benchmark and compare processors. Now graphics card reviews need to include raytracing performance as well as super sampling technology comparisons (FSR, DLSS 2, DLSS 3, and XeSS) in addition to the traditional rasterization assessments.
One thing for sure, NVIDIA has a vastly superior development environment compared to AMD. The recently announced RTX Remix (based on Omniverse) is a great example of how NVIDIA is distancing themselves from AMD in terms of software.
Both games at 2560x1440 with RTX3060
what is wrong with Nvidia coding.
New World had 516.94 tried 517.48. My temps were at 68-73c average. FPS is 55-60 depending on area.
522.25 my temps went to 79-82c nearly 10c hotter for I think close to same fps.
CP2077 it broke the map.
GTX 980 Ti is around GTX 1660 S and GTX 1660 Ti/1070 performance, or RTX 3050 8 GB, for that matter. :D
Always ask for longer support, not for shorter support :D
IMO buying it for game when you are not driving 4K120 or 8K60 is kinda dumb though.

Time for a hotfix...
AMD and Nvidia both released new ones within 12 hours of me doing so -.-
But early this morning, when I wanted to update to the latest drivers (522.25) the screen got black, during the graphic driver installation process. It was not completely black screen per se, nor it was followed with the short sound as usual when updating graphic drivers, it was some bright dark screen that was permanent (more that couple of minutes). I could not bring the image back before forced shut down. After turning laptop on, computer behaved odd, picture was there, but fans were loud and CPU usage was over 50 percent all the time, many times hitting over 80 percent. Nvidia app showed that I got latest drivers installed. I tried to roll back drivers using Device manager and everything seemed well, but then I tried to apply the latest GPU drivers update from Nvidia web site, not from the app. The result was the same, while GPU drivers update, screen went off, when I tried pressing some keys, odd beeping sound I never heard before start repeating. I had to manually shut down PC again. After that, I turned it on, and system recognized that I have latest drivers installed, but fans continued to rumble like having some tough background processes to deal with. I left it there cause I had to go to my daily job.
Sorry for longer text, I hope some will find time to help me or guide me properly. Many thanks in advance.
Annoyed the RTX2000 users got shafted, at least for now? Makes me further annoyed by the RTX4000 DLSS 3.0 lock too, I don't know if I should like or hate nVidia and I hate that. >.>
On a side note, I see my annoying issue is back, when I cold-boot/reboot my machine, my screen won't display anything at Windows login, completely dark. I have to switch my monitor off and on again for it to receive a signal again.
Everything works fine before that, BIOS etc, sigh. Using the Display Port. 1.4.a
